    All depend on the direction Audi will take, on the 3th Gen TT.
    With Michael Dick still in the drivers seat the TT would be a mix of Mk1 and Mk2 TT according to him.
    But now with a ex-Porsche guy on that seat it could be a complete different ball game.
    Looking at the Porsche 991 and the newest VW Beetle, i expect the next TT could lean more to a retro design than ever before to lett the car keep it's TT-ness.
    On the other hand they can trough everything overboard and start from scratch using the "quattro Concept" as a base to start designing.
    In that case the car only need a new roofline and a more TT-ness rear end.

    There are two key problems with both the proposal and your suggested configuration. There's a theme of lightweight purity with the quattro Concept and one Audi engineers and planners will not deviate from. They want it to be the successor to the Sport quattro, meaning they more than likely wouldn't be cool with it being heavier. This means lots of carbon fiber and lightweight engineering. It's much less likely that they would develop such expensive components for MQB because if there is a way to re-use these, it is more likely done on more expensive models and RS 3 and TT RS, while at the high end of MQB production, are not all that high volume or high sales price in the grand scheme of things.

    Going back to purity, I think they'd also have a problem with the transverse setup. For one, Haldex is very good but it lacks all-time all wheel drive and Sport Differential components. You can't do an aggressive rear diff to make the car induce more oversteer or drifting. It's a great system, but it has limitations.

    Sadly, I think this is dead in the water for now. It may be shelved until MLB Evo comes out, or it may be shelved indefinitely. Last we'd heard the thought was that it was shelved for the foreseeable future and thus development on the car has ceased. Frankly, development may never have progressed further than the post concept production feasibility study.

    The nice thing of the quattro concept is, that it is Audi TT size.
    Developing it on a shorten RS5 floorplan will cost a fortune to get it production ready, so not feasible.
    But with all the possibilities of the new MQB floorplan it could easily put into production that way.

    Chance? Yes. Plans? Not currently.

    From what we've been told Audi AG wanted Audi of America to commit to more volume than they were comfortable with in order to make it happen. If the car doesn't sell well in Europe, this outlook can and likely will change. With a weakening economy in Europe, this isn't entirely unlikely but that's still far, far from a sure thing.

    Its such an aggressively epic car. Honestly Peter its not UGLY. I would have to say the cars what Mazda have come up with for the past few years now are about 10 times as UGLY as the Quattro. They are pretty bland and dull cars what history will soon forget. The Quattro on the other hand, well thats gonna live on in history as possibly one of the most iconic cars of the 1980's. You sir are genius the styling just has something about it I cant quite put my finger on. It just has real fury and presence in its design. Anytime I've seen a Quattro out and about it never fails to turn heads. Does a Mazda really do that now?

    Although I suppose its the same with Malcolm Sayer who designed, possibly the most beautiful car ever, the E-type Jaguar. He apparently thought the backend was UGLY as sin and awful, but to me personally I think its beyond beautiful.

    Interesting but I don't see R8 moving up market. I suspect this is more simply them filling in the gaps and buying up the nameplates. Call it the Q7 lesson.
