Audi will display at the Consumer Electronics Show for the second time in its history when CES 2012 opens its doors today. Assuredly there'll be plenty of interesting news from Audi, particularly in the fields of electronics and infotainment. And though cars like the Audi urban concept will be on the stand, we're guessing an interior display showing the next generation
Just one year after the debut of the A3 Concept that revealed Audi's plans for an A3 sedan, Ingolstadt will launch the first production version (a 3-door) of the all-new A3, again at the Geneva Motor
Okay, we'll admit we may be making something out of nothing here but you never know and what you see here is intriguing enough that we thought we should point it out. We've just published the news story about Wolfgang Egger taking over as Audi brand design chief and noticed Audi AG published a new portrait of the designer to go with the text. Standard practice on our staff is to look closely in the background of any photos coming
Given the two will share platform components, it's not been much of a surprise that Porsche continues to test prototypes of their upcoming Cajun crossover with Audi Q5 bodies. The Audi Q5 is in production and the site of a Q5 on public roads isn't exactly something special. Perhaps these mules go all but unnoticed most of the time... key terminology being "most of the time" since
As winter sets in to the northern hemisphere, Audi's team of engineers and fleet of future product mules have headed north to the barren areas of remote Sweden. So too have spy photographers and the latest set of shots to come in from our spy photog sources show that the 3-door Audi A3 is still very much in the cycle of cold weather testing.
Check out the latest imagineered Audi from Theophilus Chin. Earlier this week we featured his take on a B8 RS 4 with the latest facelift changes and now he's put together a production-looking 2-door take on the A3 sedan concept shown last spring in Geneva.
So What Do We Think?
First and foremost, Chin's re-working of the A3 sedan takes it in a more production-looking direction, which helps
German car magazine Auto Motor und Sport is reporting that Audi will pull the covers off of the all-new MQB-based Audi A3 at the Geneva Motor Show next spring (found via Automobile Magazine) and arrive in Europe by the spring of 2012.
From the sounds of it, A, M und S's source was Audi Design boss
Audi's all-new next-generation a3 continues its testing as it marches toward its 2012 debut and Autobild Magazine has run a story including many of the photos they've published thus far of mules making their rounds. Case in point is the 3-door above seen hot weather testing in the States.

Another next-gen A3-based mule has been spotted hot-weather testing in Death Valley this week and a set of photos of the car has been published over on WorldCarFans. That it's a next-gen A3 3-door body is obvious, but further deduction of its S3 configuration is defined by the car's fascia (very close to A6 S-line and presumably S6), as well as quad exhausts. WorldCarFans says the engine will be a 276
One day after those grainy shots of an Audi test mule caravan in Argentina surfaced, even more detailed shots of the upcoming 3-door A3 have surfaced. Check out this super clear 3/4 and others like it seemingly shot as the test group stopped at the hotel Selva Montana near San Lorenzo. And even though the car is in far-away Argentina, it still wears its Ingolstadt plates.
