In many ways American Audi enthusiast Roger Mecking is living the dream amongst his peers. Mecking relocated with his work to Germany last year, shipping his A4 Avant over in the process. In between bouts of high speed touring on the Autobahn and installing rare parts and trim requisitioned via German Ebay on his B5, Roger is finding his way to fantastic car enthusiast events like Techno Classica in Essen.
Depending on where you live, this winter may be either the coldest in memory (Tunisia) or a bit of a letdown (New York). Whatever your impression of the winter where you are, be glad there's been few degrees and plenty of snow in Sweden. It is just these conditions that allowed for this recent photo shoot from Audi whereby rally driver Stig Blomqvist took the wheel
We've just added to our 2011 24 Hours of Nurburgring photo gallery with a collection of shots form the ADAC 24h Classic vintage race. As is typical of the grid for the 24h main event, the grid for the classic was an eclectic mix of metal and alloy. For Audi fans, we noted a thin mix that included this NSU TTS (above) and the car below that may be a Volkswagen
Just two black Audi Sport quattros were built, one for Walter Rohrl and one for Ferdinand Piech.
Researching for our TT RS and Sport quattro comparison article published today , we learned this interesting fact.
What is a #4FACT?
When we review our note pads following press events,
Our French friends over at AudiPassion.com have run a photo gallery of the Audi stand at the Essen, Germany vintage show Techno Classica. This event is a regular stop for Audi Tradition and one we regret we haven't had a chance to attend yet. That said, we can live vicariously through AudiPassion and you can too. Check out many
If you've been through Audi's Museum Mobile then maybe you've spotted the above car rather anonymously sitting on the rotating paternoster of concept cars and prototypes. I've spotted it any number of times and my general understanding was that it was a mid-engine replacement for Audi's rallying Sport quattros. And while this is true, that only begins to tell the car's story.
Known simply as the Group S
Last time I was at Audi Tradition's wonderful warehouse where Audi's vintage crown jewels are kept, my friend Peter Kober told me all about one of his more recent projects. It seems Audi Tradition had acquired a very rare DKW GT Malzoni in Brazil. Peter and a team including noted photographer Stefan Warter had gone over to
One of the advantages of Fourtitude's networked Vortex Media Group forums are its networked forums, most notably that of The Car Lounge or TCL as we tend to refer to it in emails and typed communications around our offices. TCL has become a fixture of people with all sorts of automotive interest and that's particularly exemplified in posts like one we found today by a forum user on here known as renglish
We've stumbled across a little classic Audi love over on Tinypic.com in the form of an Audi ur quattro template. A red original quattro such as this one has been tearing up the screens in the BBC series Ashes to Ashes and that car apparently inspired this paper cutout template.
The theory is simple.
1. Go to TinyPic and download the highest resolution version of the car.
2. Print with color printer
The Donau Classic event is a staple on the Audi Tradition calendar each summer and this year Audi chose to support the event with their recently purchased Brazilian DKW GT Malzoni and a range of vintage Audis. Audi AG boss Rupert Stadler piloted the DKW while board member Michael Dick tackled the event in an early Audi 80 rally car that predated the quattro era. Walter Rohrl also attended at the
