Over the weekend some images surfaced that appear to be design drawings of the rumored Audi R4 e-tron Concept Car expected to debut Paris. We're not precisely sure of the source of the images posted by R5T in our Audi Lounge forum but the most credible article online including the pics seems to be that of German car magazine Autobild.
We've just been passed these photos of that mystery Audi on location at that ski jump photo shoot. Originally rumored to be an R4 e-tron concept car we're not so sure that's true anymore... at least the e-tron part. These new detail shots posted in our forums reveal details inconsistent with an electric e-tron concept model including big open alloys, large disc brakes and alloy exhaust tips.
Thanks R5T and
The idea of an Audi R4 e-tron roadster concept for Paris continues to gather momentum today with stories from French auto magazine L'Automobile and German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. L'Automobile went so far as to mock up a render while A,M und S offers even more credibility given
Yesterday we relayed a report from WorldCarFans suggesting the rumor of an 'Audi R4 e-tron' roadster concept bound for Paris. While we've still not been able to confirm the rumor and the WCF report was anything but specific on how they came about the information, we are beginning to believe some truth in the matter. Why? That grainy image above.

The website WorldCarFans is reporting that Audi plans an 'R4 e-tron Roadster' for this month's Paris Auto Show. According to the WCF story, the car may be a roadster version of the coupe (above) shown last January in Detroit.
So What Do We Think?
WCF is consistent at running a lot of news but isn't always right. In the past they've even run CGIs we've
Automobile Magazine's German contributor Georg Kacher has filed a story with the US mag that focuses squarely on the idea of a newer, smaller mid-engine sportscar from Audi. It appears Kacher recently got access to the Detroit e-tron concept car for a quick test drive complete with pics and has published full intel on what he expects from Audi and he's decided to start calling the car 'R5'.
As rumors continue to swirl surrounding mid-engine Audis, we've just run across this render by artis Andrei Avarvarii. This roadster is most obviously based upon the Volkswagen Bluesport concept car images and, if accurately date tagged, predates the 2010 Detroit e-tron concept Audi chose to show.
We found the image over at the German Audi blog QARSI.de and have provided a link to that site
Our buddies over at GermanCarBlog have translated and summarized the latest Audi intel to be published by German car magazine Auto Motor und Sport. A M und S is usually pretty accurate so we read it with interest. Here's a quick rundown.
- Arrives (Europe at least) in 2014
- Coupe and Roadster
- Positioned BELOW TT
- Engines Include 1.4 TFSI
