im in a sticky situation, i have my big turbo set up complete minus the intake, as of rite now i have a precision 5858 on my 1.8t with a treadstone manifold. its a bottom mount so it makes for a very tight fit near the shift tower. i thought about running a small filter but i dont feel that is the best option, i think it will restrict too much or collapse, if it were 2.5" or even 2.75 inches i could probably fit an intake on there to get it away, is that ok with an anti surge housing?:banghead::banghead:

12v Turbo Build/low compression/timing

I did a turbo build on my 12v mk4, and did all new timing chains, tensioners, lower compression head spacer, arp rod bolts, arp head studs, had head...

I did a turbo build on my 12v mk4, and did all new timing chains, tensioners, lower compression head spacer, arp rod bolts, arp head studs, had head re-surfaced and a 3 angle valve job done with brass guides from a machine shop.

Car is starting but revs really high than comes down to normal idle (800 rpm) but struggles to stay running, it is backfiring slightly, and I heard slight knocking coming from the motor

I did a compression test on all 6 cylinders with a cold engine, and my numbers were about 90 psi in every cylinder. I did each cylinder several times and got consistent numbers, but 90 psi is extremely low?? I have a 9:1 CR head spacer, but from what I was reading, the compression should be around 150-160 in each cylinder...

I did the test on a cold engine because I am afraid to let my car run long enough to bring it to operating temperature. Don't want to damage anything.

How different would the readings be on a cold engine vs a warm engine?

If my numbers are this low, is it because I did a Compression test on cold engine, or is does it sound like it could possibly be a timing issue?

I'm lost for words, any advice would be nice.

Thanks
