Alright, I'm looking at lowering my mkV Jetta a little bit, don't want to slam it to the ground - just get a cleaner stance. Is it acceptable to simply purchase and install sport/lower springs without shocks? I am a Freshman in college and am on a very limited budget.

Also, what other cheap mods are most worth the money? I always have to be tinkering with something and would like to get some pointers from those of you who are more experienced. VW just ripped me a new one on a service ($504) and I'd like to stay fairly cheap. Also, I'd like to get an exhaust done, but I want to stay away from the "Honda rice" sound - I'd like a deeper clean tone; not a "fart can". There are several muffler shops here in town, what would be the best configuration if I was to have a custom made?

Any advice for a VW lover starting to mod?

sorry, didn't fill out my signature: 2009 Jetta SE 2.5, tiptronic transmission, GTI style grille, 20% tint

Hey guys! I've been looking around the forums for a while and decided I might as well sign up and get some info from people who know this stuff (cause the dealership has no clue).

I have a GLI mkV and I was just wondering what some good mods were and really anything at all that you guys recommend? I don't know much about cars at all, so forgive me if I ask dumb questions, but I'd love to learn and get my hands dirty!

Thanks! I look forward to learning!

I'll get a pic of my car up later.

Hey guys, quick questions here.

My car is an 08 GTI with the DSG. It's at 76,000 miles. Lately I've been noticing some wonky shifting, lag engaging into gear from a stop, slow transitioning from R-to-D/D-to-R, and a general 'waviness' when accelerating from a stop or slowing to a stop.

I've never owned or driven a DSG before owning this car, but I'm wondering if it's something I should be letting the dealer know tomorrow during my oil change appointment, and if anyone knows if there's a way I can check to see if the funky mech unit has been replaced under warranty. The car SHOULD be covered under the 10/100k DSG extended warranty, right?

so my sunroof is done. rails had broke . left it alone. some way or another it jarred. now it wont close. im going to order a whole assembly plug and play off ebay. my question is i read that once the headliner is removed. that the brackets that hold it in place need to be replaced. i cant find any where to tell me how many are needed. its a 2007 jetta wolfsburg with the power moon roof. i want to orded it all now. other then try to track them down after they break and i have no sunroof. i have found a few diy on taking it apart. i feel fairly confident i can accomplish this with a extra set of hands. just need a count on those clips.

Guys our ever popular 1975 Yellow VW Rabbit which has the 1.8 20V engine was stolen along with the Silver trailer it was stored in. This happened at our locked and gated shop in Anaheim, CA 92807. This happened on 6-19-2013 @ exactly 3:10am (took the thief 8 minutes total). Please help us with any info or ideas you have. I have video of the driver and the vehicle which is a 1992-1999 Chevrolet Suburban, looks to be a dark grey or dark blue color.

We think it may have been someone from the Fastivus show since the Rabbit hadn't been out for over 6 years in public view. Here are some pics of the car and trailer and it's exactly how they looked before they were taken...

So I'm looking at options for tuning software on my 2.5l. By the time I get the upgrade I'll have both a catless down-pipe and a cool air intake which hopefully will make the ecu upgrade worth it. I'm looking specifically at APR and C2 upgrades. APR's is more expensive and gives the option of running multiple programs ($599 for 87, 91, or 93 octane fuel options) or single program for $350. C2's is only $300 with single program (I'd choose to run 93 octane). Both companies claim to give pretty significant power increases. Is one known to be better than the other? Would it be worth it to have multiple programs? All opinions are appreciated!

I just need help with figuring what I need, like if I need a muffler still and what not? I didn't really get much from the video in terms of how he set his up.

Specifically engineered and designed for the MKIV and MKVI Jetta, Golf and GTI.

USP Motorsports has teamed up with Torque Solution to bring you the ultimately shifting upgrade package. If you are tired of missing gears or even worse grinding gears, this kit is for you. USP carefully examined the external transmission components and identified all of its weaknesses.

USP identified the shifter cable end link bushings, shifter cable bracket mounts, and the hydraulic clutch line as the weak links. From here, USP and Torque Solution Engineers teamed up to design and produce the highest quality replacement parts. Below is an overview of the “Never Miss A Gear Kit”:

1. The Clutch Line
The factory clutch lines is a flexible rubber which results in significant expansion, especially under track/race conditions and even during daily driving with an upgraded clutch kit.
USP developed a complete replacement line that eliminates the factory rubber line and replaces it with a high pressure, stainless steel, PTFE Teflon lined hose. This leaves no room for expansion even under the harshest conditions.

2.The Shifter Cable Bushing
The factory shift cable end links utilize a floating design supported on two sides with a rubber bushing. This design offers an extreme amount of movement which results in a “sloppy “ feeling shifter which leads to miss shifting under extreme conditions.
USP worked with Torque Solution and came up with a unique Delrin bushing to replace the factory rubber bushing. Brass and aluminum bushings were used early in the development phase but it quickly became clear Delrin was the only material that offered the correct combination of performance and reliability.

3.The Shifter Cable Mount Bushings
The factory shifter cable mount uses soft rubber bushings in between the transmission and the cable mount. These rubber bushings allow significant movement in the shifter cable mount, resulting in missed gears and a “sloppy feeling”.
USP once again teamed up with Torque Solution and created new cable mount bushing utilizing the same Delrin compound used in the shifter cable bushing. Once installed the Delrin bushings provide a solid platform for the shifter cable bracket and zero movement.
