Original owner, since new, of '84 QSW (European delivery) which is in process of engine swap, putting in a newly built 20 valve turbo 5-cyl Audi engine, plus new A/C system, new cooling system, etc., being done at an Audi specialist shop here in Calif. It is FWD and 5-speed manual. My desire is to add Syncro or Torsen AWD system, not Haldex due to the electronics. One question is whether it would be wiser to choose Torsen over Syncro? Another question is about adding limited slip differentials in the front and/or the rear, or even locking differentials, is advisable. The alternative of finding and purchasing an existing Quantum Syncro wagon is possible, but this one has already been given a nice total re-paint, plus it is a "keeper" anyway. Maybe the most difficult question is how and where to get all the parts. It is fun to think about, and I am willing to try.
Credit for this idea probably came from my 2008 VW R32, which I bought used two years ago, and it has been a joy to my whole family, i.e. my wife and I. We have also had three Scirocco Mk 2, and one '81 VW Pickup, gas, 5-sp. Lee H.
