It turned out to be a bad sensor. The VW dealership and a local garage that works on imports was able to read a code that said the right rear height sensor was bad. Dealer told me it was a bad computer, and it'd be a $10k job. Took it to the import garage, and they replaced the sensor and problem fixed. They had to re-level the car however, and all in it was a $500 job. I ignored this for about 2 months...the car was riding lower than normal, but wasn't completely flat. I elected to get it fixed before winter, as I didn't want to risk the car riding too low when the snow comes. I don't think it'll strand you, but I did experience a lower ride height on the car, and I'm guessing over the long term it would unevenly wear the tires. Hope this helps!
Hi Ken here what happened with the suspension computer? I get a fault at start up which says check suspension or something like that and I have been ignoring it for a while I am concerned it might strand me and looking to figure it out soon. any info would be helpful. Ken
