Aha! Thanks for the explanation ... In that case, the range message makes sense.
Cost was $55 Cdn (approx $42 USD), Toronto area
Service mgr didn't really comment much ... what I found puzzling was I was getting a "range" message, often associated with the KESSY, even though mine has a traditional ignition switch and not a...
Diplomat was the Dodge version.
This one is a Plymouth, so it would be a Caravelle.
Just an update to close this thread ...
Towed it to the dealer, and they programmed the immobilizer, and now all 3 keys (2 fobs + 1 valet) work as intended. Cost-wise, it was reasonable ($55).
I see... so no easy way out... have to tow it to the dealer...
I tried the instructions in the link.. when the key is on the ignition, and I unlock using the 2nd fob, it doesn't beep, or do...
Car in question is a 2011 Golf TDi wagon, 6spd .. it does not have KESSY (push button start)
The car's main battery died (measured 3.2 V), so I had a chance to get a replacement...
Why do all new manufacturer test vehicles have those fancy black and white graphic patterns to disguise the body? Why not just a simple wrap? What's with all those swirly/twirly patterns?

you'll get used to it ... I thought the hood on the C7 was long the first time I drove mine... after a few hrs, it was as easy to drive/park as any other car I have had, and now I am very used to it.
