Thanks Graeme. Here's mine. Does anyone see a difference?
Yes, it does look weathered. I left the grill off just in case there was an issue reopening it. It latched, but the hood sat too low in the front. Then it released, so I twisted the spiral rubber...
 I don't see any more or less parts between the two assemblies.
I was putting the bumper cover back on last night when I heard a "tink" & then a landing on the plastic belly pan. I thumped it a couple of times with a fist, & another "tink" as it hit the garage...
MKIV guys, help me out. Best guess is that this is part of the hood latch mechanism? Don't want to close the hood until the part is back in place.
Knew it was too good to be true. LOL While putting everything back together I found this on the garage floor underneath the area I had been working on. Pretty sure it's a secondary release lever for...
The official name for the pulley is an Overrunning Alternator Decoupler (OAD). It's supposed to micromanage belt slack, vibration, & return another MPG or two over a solid pulley. To me it's just one...
Success!! In the end it was the pulley.
WTF is supposed to be attached to this bracket?
In this case the brushes don't appear to be the issue. I'm leaning towards the belt pulley. The new pulley rotates one way then snaps back. The old one freewheels in either direction.
It appears that it's not the mechanical part of the voltage regulator.
Belts are here. Disappointed that the dual-sided belt is not the Gatorback design. The other two single sided ones are.
Ordered up a new alternator yesterday evening. Now just have to wait 2-3 days for it to arrive.
The price on E36 BMW parts isn't the problem, it's the price on MKIV VW parts. LOL The 2 BMW belts were the cost of the 1 VW belt. Par for the course every time though, unless it's something really...
I found the Gatorback belt on eBay, plus need to eventually replace 2 on the BMW, so ordered all 3 from the same seller. Around $45-46 total with shipping.
Who sells Goodyear Gatorback (D4060519) belts locally?
I told the bitch resistance was futile. It sh*t itself & fell out. LOL
I started in on this just a little while ago, got to the belt removal part, & ran in to an issue. I purchased the proper metric bolt for the tensioner years ago before fitting a serpentine belt. It...
Suspect Maroone is involved in this one.
