Not having OD isn't necessarily a deal breaker but once you've had one with OD you don't want to go back. It's so much more civilized at highway speeds. I daily drove a non OD car for several years...
I wouldn't call the lack of horsepower of the Later single ZS carbed B's an advantage over the chrome bumper cars.

I can't disagree that the Spitfire is a good looking car it's just sad that it has one of the most horrible rear suspensions ever.
MGB or MGBGT with overdrive. If you really want a Midget go for a chrome bumper car not just for looks but the Triumph 1500s in those is nowhere near as nice as the 998s or 1275s in the Midgets.
