so you're thinking of the capability of the Ignition Control Module that is built into the ecu, moreso than the ecu's ability to control the coils.

its a time, not a load.

You charge coils with voltage not current right? There will be some negligible draw but it won't be a significant increase going from 2-3ms to 5ms dwell.

Its the charging time of the coil element.

you dont need to pull the front off to check oil pressure. so I am confused by that statement they gave you. sound like a way to charge you more moola.

I can't find it at the moment, its not a like a vacuum check valve its built into the oil filter housing.

There is a check valve in the oil filter/breather housing that could be failing.

Have you considered a new sensor for the oil pressure system, it might just be tired at 250K?

      More serious and...

or just look up the dwell tables and compare them to stock vag dwell tables......

      that seems easier.

I didn't know these were that uncommon; interesting. every machine shop I've worked in has had them.

you could get custom rods made with a 21mm bore and proper thickness bronze ( I think ) wear area in the rod.

It may be possible to open them up 1mm also.

What is the real benefit you're...

I wouldn't worry about it. In theory the ignition modules for the airbags have a shelf life.

I've never heard of anyone worrying about this. ever.

Your statment is kind of open ended, I'd suggest some familiarization with forced induction over in the FI forum.

      What are your power goals?

      What is your budget?

we had a theory that its a resonance tube, similar to some sort of helmholtz device.

      Is it always coil #1?

      How many miles?

According to Rock auto the ID of both bearings is the same. The width is different but I'd venture a guess if you use a mk4 hub you'll have plenty of engagement in the bearing

      Thats a good suggestion.

Another idea would be to measure the ID and length of the bearing, then measure the OD and Length of the hub, maybe you can press mk4 hubs into mk2 bearings?
