Kinda confused what your are removing. If you are taking the cv joint off the shaft you should be fine. The bearing thing inside my pop out.

It will work. Just has to be a VR trans. Youll needs various other parts that correspond with the trans. There's a thread out there detailing what you'll need.
I guess I got it pretty cheap, however I did all the valve work which is the bulk of the work.
And yeah, don't sandpaper the head. :laugh: I would rather just slap the head on than doing that.
My machinist charged me $50 to clean, deck, and check for damaged valves.
Bring it to a machinist to have it decked and cleaned.
If you have a overhead valve spring compressor, you could lap the valves.
Have you checked for shaft play?

There's also iwg block off plates so you don't have to weld. I would rather use a plate therefore you could go back if necessary.
The cost to build an auto is very close to buying a manual mk4.
