All else being equal, "more experience" does make them "more capable." Of course, you'll find those who lose ambition and starting living the 9-5 at some point in their lives (for various reasons). ...

1) Do you like algebra? Many of the courses will get hard just by building on top of algebra.
2) Do you get things done or quit early? Engineering...

This is the life cycle of a successful engineering company, I guess. It's very frustrating for the small percentage of top performers. I see it as a management problem.
