Could just be oil leaking from the camshaft seal, valve cover, or PCV/hoses. All are right above that area if it's an ABA. Could do a compression or leak down test if you think it's the head gasket.

I've never had a flange melt before. You'd have to be overheating for that to even be possible and probably no coolant flowing through it. ABS doesn't melt until over 220 degrees F and what's used...

Must be early New Beetle ones cause they are similar design to the Mk3 monster mats with the VW logo. Seem to be kind of rare cause I can't find pictures of them anywhere. My 98 New Beetle monster...

I would say something with the cooling system is obviously blocked up causing pressure to build up. Possibly the radiator or heater core. Could also just be air, but I've never seen that cause a hose...

They are asking way too much for an automatic with nearly 200k miles and a supposed rebuilt transmisison anyway. That's like a $500 car tops. Looks like they just searched and posted random pictures...

The second pic is a B4 Passat. It's not the same car. They would have had to do some serious work to swap the fenders, hood, and front end. The mirrors are a give away that it's not the same car too.

Don't try to just tighten that bolt to tighten the belt either. It's not how it works and you'll strip it or the pump bracket. You have to loosen three other pivot bolts first and the gear on that...

You probably don't have the splines seated fully at the u-joint if the shear bolt hole isn't lining up. Rather than trying to just force it from above, it might be better to have someone help push...

Key Parts has the outer floor sections under the car that are pinch welded with the rip plate and rocker. Said they were for a Mk3, but they are not direct replacement, the drain plug holes don't...

Rear main or input shaft seal. With the dye it should be easy to pinpoint. Only other times I've heard of it happening are when someone puts oil in the timing check hole by mistake. You can refer to...

It's possible you are just looking at a car with aftermarket suspension. I think they all had a little reverse rake going on with stock suspension, even the VR6 models. Here are a few 8V/16V GTI Euro...

I might have all the keepers laying around from a head I disassembled awhile ago. I can send you some in an envelope for free. I'll PM you if I find them. Pretty sure I know where they are.

I don't know actual heights, but I don't believe my Golf Sport had a different factory suspension than what came on all other ABA models. I don't think there was a sport suspension package if that's...

If it started acting up after a TB cleaning, that's a good sign that it just needs an adaptation performed. Ross-Tech states to do one whenever the TB is cleaned or removed or battery disconnected....

One trick is to use assembly lube so the keepers stay in place. I have a Schley valve compressor, and it's open on one side so you can easily put the retainers back on while the spring is compressed....

Yes, you can un-solder and re-solder that chip if you want to keep the mileage. Most are a 93c46 chip. It doesn't sound like you have a Mk3 replacement cluster though if it has SMD LEDs, unless it's...
