      Over 1 year and 12,000 miles on Chris's worm gear. Still running OK. I think poor quality control on these parts is the problem. It wouldn't be such an issue if the remedy was cheaper/easier.

      Nah, I mean the cabin outside air fan. The bay should be sealed so you get ambient air rather than hot and oily engine air. Usually, all the hot air is just forced to go underneath the car.

      All cars have a low pressure zone at the bottom of the windshield. You'll pull more hot air into the fan if you leave the seals off.
