bottom line, the temp needle on the dash gets its data from the ecu, not the sender. if the ecu calculates a slow warmup time due to a failing mechanical thermostat, it will shut down the signal...

Correct. I just replaced my 06 3.2 bushings, and they were in fact the "s3" style with 2 holes.
I used the solid rubber "TT" bushing insert febi / bilstein part number 33973. readily...
