That was my fault for bringing the Model III into the discussion. Just seemed apt as this thing will likely be over $30k and we had been hearing sub-$40k for the Model III.

How is any of that contrary to what I stated? The Sonic EV is three years away (like the Model III) and will likely well over $30,000 (just like the Model III which will probably be $35k to $40k).
The Spark EV starts at around $27,000. This thing with a 200-mile range will surely be well over $30,000.... which will put it up against the Tesla Model III.
And what do you mean "adding" an EV version? There already is an EV version of the Spark.
