I cleaned it up a little with solder splices…
The female terminal connectors are called "Timers". The ones used in my 16v harness are the "Junior Power Timers" (google this). These are the...
It was a pretty shotty splice, but it seems like it is factory… according to Bentley anyway. The diagram shows 10 wires grounding to a single ground in the ecu harness, which would explain the...
Found this under the ecu connector boot, seven wires spliced and soldered into one brown wire:eek:
$15 to ship it from princess auto, not bad.
Their is a crimper like that where I work, what they don't have are terminals or an extracting tool.
I like your swag ;) Considering i have the opportunity to make the situation priceless… Now if i could just source the necessary items :)
Here is my engine harness at the moment
So at the connector I should be getting 12v from the ecu to one wire, and the other wire should be a ground.?
Cause when I test the connector I am getting 12v from one wire and 8v from the other...
I noticed the other day while running the car for a bit that the Idle Stabilizer Valve was so hot that it burned to touch it. Is that normal?
Yes I have the connectors under the boot, would need the OBD1 connector and VAG.
Would a coolant temp. sensor be causing an idle issue like mine?
What do you use to scan? I've heard of vag-com but haven't found anything about it for a 1990
Thanks for the help, Greg, I am glad that you showed me the diagram for a 1991-1992 GLI. My GLI is a 1990 but the wiring is just like in the 91-92 diagram.
Their is an intermittent connection to...
There is my "impulse sensor". The three wires connecting to it are black, green, and red.
The smaller looking...
The impulse sensor, the one that goes to the spark plug wire, yes it is connected.
See in the diagram the Ignition Timing Sensor has three wires; white, brown, and black… On my car those are cut...
To prove it, there it is, right in the middle of the photo:
Crankshaft position sensor???
Yes their is one of those but that's not what I'm talking about.
FYI my crankshaft position sensor is fine;but, the ignition timing sensor is not fine.
It started when I was trouble shooting the issue, here's what I have found to be wrong:
The Idle Stabilizer Valve gets 12v; however, it does not vibrate or hum. I replaced it and it's still in the...
From what I can see under the hood and in the Bentley manual their should be an ignition timing sensor.
The sensor harness has a three pin connector: a white wire, a black wire and a brown wire. ...
