With direct port you actually want some of the mixture as droplets to enter the combustion chamber. Putting the nozzles near the head flange ensures this happens.
put the nozzles as close to the flange as you can.
You want it as close to the ports as possible.

The car is running well, but is breaking up in the higher rpms.

Yes the downpipe will fit.
Firewall Clearance will be fine, this will hang the turbo in the exact same 3d space as a 1.8t so all the 1.8t parts will bolt right up.
