The gates belt does not stretch a good bit, that's what all the commotion is about.
Contrary to popular belief, there is more of a science to it than just "make it firm".
I've heard good and bad also, but there shouldn't be any bad when its racing belt that costs more than a regular conti belt.
I know how it's tensioned, I have the same kit. But the "90* twist"...
I'm interested is seeing how that gates belt is going to hold.
How did you tension it?
I lost hope in the mk4 forum early 2011.
Then this happens... What the crap.
Awesome work. Keep it up.
I think I know what your problems.
No, the engine has a hard hesitation. It's kinda hard to explain.
lol. I may have to sig this.
Long time no post.
Got my engine running the other day.:D
Idles smooth, AFRs are in check, clutch works great, shifts smoothly just ironing out small things.
1) My engine would cut off when...
I hadn't looked at that info in a while. Thanks.
But I had this gap, .034 (checked it this morning), before my rebuild and did not have this issue. The engine speed sensor threw an implausible or...
I didn't know the gap would grow.
That makes sense as to why I'm not getting a misfire code.
I have that gap because i'm running mk6 coil packs.
Jeff - hope all is well. How is she doing now?
Tristan - "Unfortunately" douche bag. I've rebuilt a few air cool engines and replaced the spaghetti system, my roots are in aircooled. I...
Are you sure? I saw a block that measured "1st electronic fuel pump duty cycle". I saw before asking on here and cant find now, maybe it was for a different model..?
I haven't messed with logging...
VMS never called back but all they needed were those little fastening clips that hold the injectors to the fuel rail.
Now i'm having another problem, I think its fuel cut...
I was thinking the injectors felt a bit loose. A friend and I just replaced his cups with OEM and they were a tight fit. The o-rings maybe wrong, they seem a little loosy goosy. Maybe the leak is...
After figuring out a few odds and ends on my GTI, I decided to take it for a spin. Nothing crazy. I just drove to the gas station to put some more fresh fuel in her. Felt great the whole way there,...
The fuel pump relay was the culprit. Swapped it out the auto parts store with an OEM relay and I tested the door over and over again and it's good to go.
I already went down that rabbit hole a bit but i'll try swapping it with an OEM piece. I'm thinking about getting an aftermarket set up.
I know they are lean but it's not an issue I have to solve....
After sorting out a bunch of other things and basically rebuilding my engine, I'm down to 1 pesky problem. My engine wont run if the driver door is open...
With the door closed and engine on, its...
lol. Ballin ass bitch.
Why not just get your wheels in 5X100.
