      fixed it for you...

IMO, slow shifting or harsh shifting suggests solenoids; slipping - especially on the 2-3 shift - points towards internal issues (cracked reverse piston or damaged high/reverse...

Looking at it more, my guess is that the "race" slipped off the drum slightly on installation, so that it was sitting on the shaft instead of the inner lip of the drum. This lip (that is supposed to...

Clearancing the clutch pack is a red herring; it has NOTHING to do with how much preload will be on that bearing when you assemble the transmission.

When assembled, there is a roller thrust...

Yeah, I think there's a spring pressure on the side cover. I believe it's from that little ring of springs that pushes the 2-4 piston back into the side cover.

      good luck!

You gotta do a full-throttle run from 1-4 and some hard kickdowns to try and make it slip. :)

When I first "fixed" my transmission, it still slipped under full throttle. That's cause I hadn't...

I've got no idea. When I did this job, I didn't tear very deep into the transmission, because I was afraid I was gonna mess something up. ;) I just took off the high/reverse clutch drum and...

Hmm, I never had any problem with this; I found the plates moved pretty easily and you just had to apply light pressure while rotating the assembly back and forth and you'd pick up all the plates.

wittrans was the only place I could find for the seals and snap ring. They have an outrageous minimum shipping, but what can you do? Does the dealer sell this stuff?

I bought my transmission parts from a smaller company, I think it was called "D&W Performance". Anyway, they were bought out by Transtar. So I bought the last set of clutches from Transtar.

I bought that kit and it works OK, only drawback is the trans. pressures are high enough that it will pin the needle at times.

Not really sure what you can learn from the pressure test, though.

The high clutch piston sits inside the reverse piston. The high clutch piston looks like an aluminum saucer with a 2" hole in the middle; the reverse piston is more the shape and side a cereal bowl...

Time to pop the cover off of the transmission and check for an internal issue (cracked piston, worn clutches, bad seal), IMO. Not a job I'd want to do curbside, though!
