The 81 looks like a 79/80. Does it have small tail lights?
I feel that adjusting the sensor plate should be your first and last step. You need a baseline to start with, then to tweak after your pressures have been adjusted.
Does the car run better with...
I'll admit it... you had me. Glad to see that you haven't given up.
Start by setting the sensor plate height. The mixture screw could be the cause of your grief.
Have you set the sensor plate height? How long does it run before stalling out? Are you able to keep it alive with the throttle?
Ideally, system pressure should be between 75-80psi. Cold pressure is fine. What's the warm pressure?
You likely would be fine with just contact cement, but don't use aresol. Dap Weldwood in the blue can is made for automotive use, but the red can would likely be fine.

These are still available new.
Those will be some long gears for a na 1.6. If you thought your car was slow, now....

I'm guessing your car is a Westy? If so, you'll need a German booster.
Back in the day, I would pull the mc and booster from a 16v S2 and bolt the combo on. As long as you pull the booster from...
There's a step on the shock piston that the upper spring hat sits on. I have a feeling that the upper spring hat gave way and the piston blew through it.
The fact that you say you can move the...
Anywho, factory fogs are pretty useless. The lens will always crack, even if you don't use them. Both of my B4s have fogs and I rarely, if ever turn them on.
Don't part that car out. It doesn't apoear to be a rust bucket, so it should stay on the road.
If you're not willing, don't have the time, etc, somebody, including myself would be willing to...
I went and looked at my spare evap box; the solenoid is missing. looking at it, it would appear that the solenoid sits in a cradle and strapped in, somehow.
Not that it helps your search, but I was always under the impression that SMS's bolts were repros. The same with the midnight blue vinyl. The swatch they typically send is about 2" square (if lucky)....
