Just looked at the fuse box. You have to slide the pink lock assembly

I know I pulled a couple from there. Let me take a look at mine when I get home since my dash is still out. Feel like that one pulled back away from the fuse box, but the wires were still running...

If you look on the back side of the fuse box you will see purple locks. They don't slide though if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure you pull them out completely and then you can continue on.
The dei thermal protection is nice. Use their stuff on cars at work sometimes. Your headed down the right path. Have fun and hope to see some progress updates!
Almost went through the firewall on mine but decided against it. I would find a thermal heat wrap for the section of harness that runs by the exhaust, if you didn't already intend to that is. ...
You don't need a big fancy set up to do nice work. It helps don't get me wrong, but the same can be done in a tiny garage and driveway.
