      I'd do the film .. if you wax it there is a chance you won't get it all out of the chip and the paint wont adhere ... before you paint it wipe it with IPA .

      If it was on the lot it could be all kinds of fallout that a regular wash wont lift but IPA will . Even black wax wont come off black once the residue is removed and buffed up by hand.
