Did it have the rails (one on each side of the cover) that go under the nuts, on top of the cam cover? Those are meant to even out the torque on the gasket, and if missing could explain why it's...

you can't go wrong with any of the options but here is my opinion on the 3
-B&G if you want to go really low and need dampening adjustability
XMB - if you want dampening adjustability and B&G style height adjustability (more complex), go CX
If you want a simple setup that will go low and ride good, go ST

The only way to adjust camber on these cars is with some type of shim behind the stub axle. It's basically non-adjustable unless you take off the brakes and everything.
And the beam could be bent...
Why make it harder on yourself than necessary? Swap the whole 1.8T and be done.
I go to the dealer for stuff like this, usually.
