Black people point guns at both black and white cops in New Orleans regularly and do not get shot.
This place just does not fit well into the national narrative of oppressive white cops beating...
Jarvis is a pot stirrer. I would not recommend his articles for anything other than wiping one's bottom.
Gin pairs well with Lillet in the Corpse Reviver #2. It's one of my favorite drinks:
It's not that they're doing it in the bathroom, it's that they're doing it at work. It would be like seeing someone clip their toenails in their cube
Holy crap! Assuming you didn't get shot, from the looks of it you had an incredible experience. I hope our fair city was kind to you and your fellow travelers!
It's just odd. It's like seeing someone piss in the stall when there are two open urinals - totally acceptable to stand and piss in the toilet at home yet strange to do it at the office.
I see people brushing their teeth in the bathroom at work during lunch from time to time; it always strikes me as being so odd.

Other good oyster spots include Superior Seafood on St Charles, Seithers seafood in Harahan, and Cooter Browns in the river bend.
Be sure to hang around the bar one night at the Ritz and catch a Jeremy Davenport set. Drink a cocktail and eye up some sexy old broads.
It's usually a ton of fun. The bar there has a great vibe.
^all good recommendations. For a less crowded alternative to jacques imo's check out Elizabeth's in the bywater.
Go get a moofa-lahtta at Central Grocery, dawlin:
Stuff ya face wit...
Ones that I hate yet continually use because I can't find a better way of saying them include the following:
Knowledge - I use this to describe the "logic" contained in my code
Leverage - I use...
I came here to post "pivot." I hate that word.
If you have a few days, and to add to a bunch of the good suggestions posted already:
Frenchmen St. - Hit up The Spotted Cat for good music and cheap beer. Check out Yuki Izakaya if you want to...
How long are you in town for?
New Orleans has a ton of accents. I love them all:
