I'm surprised that scrap dealers will pay for the metal from these without someone having a good story as to where they came up with a bunch of copper tubing...someone did the same thing over the...

      The Funny Picture Thread

I don't see a problem with it...no reason a spacer can't have a hex shape to the outside. Looks like there's plenty of thread engagement. Just my opinion as a mechanical engineer, fwiw...

      What...

Tearing the front off of the engine in my new '07 Navigator I posted a couple weeks ago...ended up having the notorious 5.4 timing chain tensioner...

I'll loan you mine if you want to try it; as fast as it works, I'll bet you could get by with a fairly small compressor for intermittent use.

I've had a 3/8" butterfly impact for years and it's great. I had a crappy, worn out 1/2" impact that was just short of useless (it was free because someone was getting rid of it due to its...

The bad news...I'm already tearing off the front of the engine on my Navigator to replace the timing chains, guides, and tensioners, in an effort to stop the awful clatter on startup. Common problem...

When I was running the maintenance department in the plant where I used to work, we used Sherwin Williams epoxy on the floors. Prep exactly as they say, mix exactly as they say, roll it out, and it...

I'm not sure...I'll bet it would be hard to find one around any of the transmission shops anymore but that might be a place to check (maybe even everybody's good buddy Walter would have one he'd rent...

I'm not following this part...bad ring design and they have to load the engine at idle to prevent what's known in the heavy duty diesel world as slobber? I deal with piston / ring / liner design as...

You buy cars as often as I used to...you just buy nicer stuff than I did...
    15. The craigslist thread: post your hilariously stupid experiences here.

My last CL experience was yesterday and was as far opposite a lot of these as it could be...needed to buy a bigger mower because it turns out a 22" push mower isn't the best thing to mow 2-3 acres (5...

I forgot...the "loaded edition" was the one that came with the 6.2...it's what Ford calls it when they give the SVT treatment to a Lincoln.
    17. The craigslist thread: post your hilariously stupid experiences here.

No need to check the VIN, it only came with a 5.4 since the model was first released for MY98. For MY15 it will get a 3.5 EcoBoost instead. The guy's just an idiot.

The 4-valve was ok? Bonus! I didn't realize that - always just assumed 5.4=spark plug headaches.
    19. The craigslist thread: post your hilariously stupid experiences here.

I know he's absolutely certain it's a 6.2; it seems like a pretty simple matter of reading the emissions tag under the hood of his truck, or any of the eleventy billion intarwebz sources that confirm...
    20. The craigslist thread: post your hilariously stupid experiences here.

Thought about it...Aviators are very few and far between, and if I'm going to be dumping that kind of money into my tank, I'll just dump slightly more in and have a bigger truck with more room! I do...
