I need your help. If you know how much your dealer charges per hour for labor work, please vote below. Please check an invoice or call up and find out to make sure of the price before you vote, unless you know for sure.

I am being told by an insurance adjuster that my dealership's (Jack Daniels of Fair Lawn, NJ) rate of $87/per hour is "unheard of". I know this might have to do with the fact that it is a brand new facility, but I highly dout my dealership is the only one that is charging this much.

Please try to keep this post free of any unneccesary comments because I will be using this as a reference.

Also if you can for reference purposes reply with the name, location and phone number of you dealership. This post could also be used to help people find a dealership in thier area with a better rate.

A reminder..this post is not about how good or bad your dealership's service is, just about what they charge. Thank You.

They just recently upped it at my dealership from $69 to $72 now.

It is nationally set at 83/hour. Gnuther VW told me that ... i think they are just trying to make me feel better about my 1500$ service bill + parts

I am sure it is not nationally set at $83/hour but if your dealership is in that $80-$89 price range please reply with thier name and phone number if possible.

Just for reference in case the insurance adjuster wants to call and verify that my dealer is not the only one that charges this much. Thanks.

Body shops are usually cheaper in labor. For instance, my dealer wanted $82 an hour to get off a seized wheel nut. The body shop was able to do it for $35 an hour...

I think East Coast in Englewood Cliffs is somewhere around $70 something per hour .. I'll call and ask my friend who works there, or just look at one of my last service bills when I get home.

YOU need to do the legwork for YOUR insurance adjuster?

What, is he too busy golfing?

Get on the horn and put him to work.

He checked around some dealers in this area I guess and told me nobody else charges this high but I want to show him that he is wrong.

T.C. will also bill you 1/2 intervals, where as JD will round it off to a full hour.

I wish we were only at $80-90. Bay Area-anywhere from $105-120.
That's why I never go to the Dealer.

I think Congressional VW here in MD is $96 an hour. I won't go there unless it involves the transmission or window regulator (i.e. warranty work).

A private VW shop is somewhere near $70/hr. That's where I go now.

Camelback VW, Phoenix, AZ = $85/hour

I'm pretty sure the other 4 in the Phx area charge about the same.
