All of those are beautiful cars. Why do people badge cars with incorrect badges. Like a lot of WRXs with STi badges that arent STi? Isnt that like all those honda guys puting Type R on their cars?

It's not the same at all, as you can buy STi parts for your car. STi is just a division, sort of like AMG or M. They make parts for the normal car to imporve performance and looks, AMG and M has added badges on to cars before. Honda adds type R onto a model making it a whole new car.

      Nice cars by the way!

"Type R" is a model name.

STI is a WRX that's tuned by the factory. STI makes many tuner parts of Imprezas.

      STI is both the factory

Noooooo.. thats a WRX. not an STi.

No bug-eyed STIs were sold in the US. Yours is a poseur STI.

I do not agree that one can buy a "STI muffler" and then label the car a STI. Its wrong. If your VIN declares your car a STI then it is. If not, its fraud. No one can rightfully put an AMG engine in their MB and declare it an AMG 55. Thats simply a MB with an AMG motor.

If STI did not build it, then it is not. If AMG did not build it, then it is not.

Otherwise, great looking cars--yours included. Very sharp in fact.

I gotta agree with you there. I've got a ralliart rad cap but I doubt that makes my car a Ralliart talon

I like the flat-black paint job on the 911. Is it some kind of rat-racer?

Type R isnt a model, its a performance package added to the Integra, civic, accord, NSX and any other models I may be forgetting. Just like STi is the performance package added to the WRX model. You can buy type R cams, and what not. Just putting it in doesnt make the car a "type r" just like adding an STi performance doesnt make the a WRX an STi.

Its just badge engineering. thats all.

      Here's my JDM Bugeye STI.

Why is the steering wheel on the left if this is the case?

      A picture to compare maybe

Do we need to point out the differences.

The yellow impreza is most likely a 99-01 2.5rs, that someone had painted that color. A 22B would be blue with flared fenders and a different bumper.

Actually... no... STI is a division of Subaru that produces parts for them. Subaru does sell an "STI" model of their WRX, Forester, etc. You *CAN* buy STI parts from Subaru for your specific model, in fact the '02 USDM WRX had at least two "options" from STI (the exhaust and the shift knob come to mind). In fact it appears that there are several "STI Shops" in Japan where (I assume) u can buy the parts.

      http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/

EDIT: In contrast, I don't believe Honda does any "marketing" of Type-R parts for a run-of-the-mill Integra/etc. Subaru does appear to sell STI parts directly to consumers for use on their "non-STI" vehicles.

      he's saying its 'JDM style'
      which it is
however it could benefit from some front drop though.

Actually this is a real STI here..

      Here's my car below:

Of course, there's always this badging arguments. I feel perfectly happy with my Bugeye STI and not the bloated US STI.
