***IMPORTANT - 6 Disc In-Dash CD CHanger Install Pics and SPECIAL Tip***

I got my 6 Disc In Dash Changer today and did the install (Thanks Paul Jr.!)....I have a 2001 GTI 1.8T With Monsoon..and ran into a problem...the Instructions DO come in English at the back of the Booklet...but it said nothing of the Steering Wheel controls..and after I installed it...the Steering Wheel controls did not work...so I took the radio back out..and found the problem...if you have a car with the Monsoon and are doing this install..you need to know this important fact....you HAVE to change the Multi-Colored Harness from the stock radio, unclip it at the Green piece...slide it off, and re-clip it to the new harness from the changer..the green clip harness piece has 1 wire that runs the steering wheel controls....without the green harness piece changed over the controls will not work..I assume all NON-Monsoon cars do not have this problems...Thankfully VW allows these 3 colored clip harnesses to come apart very easily..and it's easy to change.....if you go to the following link you can see all the pics of the install as well as the piece you need to change over...after this is done..the install is very easy and took only a 1/2 hour......I called PG and found out it was The canadian Thanksgiving...but the person gave me Paul Jr/s Cell # - and he was happy to help once again and talk about this problem on his day off...Thanks again to Paul for setting up the Group buy!!

Thanks for posting. This also went around when the first cars with the steering wheel controls started coming out, as I had the same issue when I installed my in-dash single CD player back then.

What's interesting is in my '01 Passat, the wire for the steering wheel controls is in the yellow piece of the plug and not the green piece. Also, mine is a purple wire

Didn't know if anyone knew about this or not..seeing as how the players just started comming in late last week and today - Thanks Bartnik for letting me know the difference in the Passat.....I love this damm thing!!!

No..it's either or - there is only on set of connections in the back of the stereo....so you can either have the in dash player...or the trunk changer.....

haha i know... but i just discovered this 6 disc changer today... i never really go on vortex, mostly pw. know anyway i can get one of these ?
