no really .......well i would expect a comment like that from someone associated with DCI

They have to meet the FMVSS106 ..whatever standard for light bulbs....

That being said...although The Phillips WeatherVision meets that standard and has the DOT/SAE seal of approval, come inspection time...whoever does the inspection, depending on his/her interpretation, may fail you.

I went through it before...with my old car, where I had Phillips WeatherVision 9004WV, which I got from K-Mart...

Technically the Phillips WeatherVision is legal....but it's up to the cops or whomever is doing the inspection.

It used to be mandatory in france. They dropped the thing because the chemicals used to make it yellow was carcinogenic.

honestly though, i can't see why they would be illegal. smoked headlights are legal here. but then again i am not a PA inspection mechanic.

to answer your question, in PA, all forward facing lights must be either white or yellow in color. so yes, they are legal. i'm sure youve seen some old benzes or the 95ish lexus ES with the yellows.

if you look at those benzes and lexuses, the fogs and "city lights" are yellow, not the actual beams

either way you look at it, yellow lights are better than blue ones

I'd have to check my Inspection regs book to confirm 100% , but I believe that headlights must be white . (front turn signals amber , and rear turns amber or red)

I have WeatherVision bulbs in my SVT , they're sort-of yellow , and are legal to the best of my knowledge . I agree about the yellow vs. blue light comment 100% .

good to know...i just but yellow bulbs in my turn signal lights and in my fogs...
i should be ok from what i read

I think you got that flip-flopped - lows should be white, highs can be yellow. I see an older Benz all of the time and the outside lights (lows) are white and the inner lights (highs) have yellow colored lenses (and it should be noted that an old lady drives the car I referring to - it's not something modified from Benz'tex.com)...

Here's my custom hack job using all OEM VW parts (and I am running stock white bulbs)

LOL! Yes, it does get driven - not much these days but on odd occasions - usually running errands in the late AM/early afternoon. I have even taken it to work a couple of times this year and parked it in a public garage in town!
