Thread: Calling All BMX Riders

  1. 09-10-2004 05:53 PM #71
I'm in the same boat as kerry (in a way). I just got one of the new Chris Doyle frames in 21.25 and I'm waiting on Profile stuff to come in before I put it together.

I also run a BMX specific shop in Indianapolis, if anyone's ever in town give me a call, 317-432-6806, we'll ride. Kerry's also my sales guy for FBM.

Hey we stopped by East Moline Raceway(Illinois) yesterday for the races, it was great I haven't been to a race in like 10 years since I had my Auburn all tricked out with GT parts..HAha! It's funny I found this on here today, on Saturday I picked up my 25th anniversary Haro Master..white with green and blue graphics...Freestyler! Now I need to pick up some green Tuff II's lol. No, seriously the bike is very cool, autographed by Bob Haro and numbered check out Haro's site for info http://www.harobikes.com/freestyler/ mine is 209 of 250. Very cool and pretty good geometry. I always gave the Haro guys a hard time while I was on DK/Standard bikes but hey it's a nice bike.
It has euro bottom bracket, I've been out of bikes for a few years, when I left only race bikes had it but I guess it's COOL now for everything.

wow, this thread sure brings back some memories and makes me wish I kept my old 80's bikes

My 2 good bikes were an SE Racing P.K. Ripper from 1984 and then I had an SE Racing Quadangle from I think 1986....white with lavender parts

I'd like to buy another bike just to mess around with, I'm too old and big to be serious about it

I used to ride flat, I'm probally gonna start up again soon riding at night.

I've got a Haro Master definately not stock but I'm too lazy to post everything, but I pull 12 hr days 5-6 days a week.

I'll try to get picks up at some point soon and maybe I'll post everything on it.

I have a freecoaster, I don't seem to see those no others bikes on here......

    my gt mach one...

bought it for $20 bucks a few years ago.
    since then i've added:
    - primo grips
    - new style gt bars
    - new gt freestyle seat (can't stand those old plastic dominator seats)
    - redline freaky v tires
    - some cheap 48 spoke rims
    - haro 46t crank
    - acs boa ball-bearing rear brake
    - new brake lever and cable
    - cleaned it up a bit and re greased some of the bearings

the biggest problem with the bike is the rear dropouts are all warped

  24. 10-23-2004 12:54 PM #94
My neighbor used to have a baby blue GT performer identical to the pink one above... I can't believe someone threw out that priceless gem! .

Man, I got involved with racing around 1988, and did this for about eight years around Canada, mainly Ontario and Quebec, even made it to the '94 Worlds held in Waterford Oaks, Michigan (didn't do well at all). Finally just got tired of it as my dad was really involved with the local track (Track2000, Milton ON), and the politics involved really took the fun out of it.
I stupidly sold the last two of my bikes last year in need of cash, a '02 DK General Lee and my 2hip Stoutboy setup for flat. I am really regretting that now . The bug has bit again, and a friend hooked me up with his old General Lee frame and fork, and I am slowly rebuilding it, actually picking up a Redneck stem from another Vortexer today Now all that's left is a wheelset, cranks, and headset I forgot how much these parts cost!

Here is the list, I have gone through a literal ton of BMX bikes:

    - Supercyle/CCM garbage bike (first race was on this tank)
    - Redline 700exl, or something along those lines..
    - Free Agent junior (stolen)
    - JMC junior
    - Homeless "the Mack" first "real" street frame.
    - Free Agent Pro
    - Cyclecraft Cruiser
    - Mongoose Expert Comp
    - Parkpre Team BMX (sponsorship through the Cyclepath, hated this frame)
    - S&M Challenger
    - 2hip Stoutboy
    - DK General Lee

Now back to the General..... I can't wait till it's built back up again!

    Graham.

anyone have any recommendations for a nice complete for a new rider? looking to drop about $300-400 so hopefully that will get me something decent with a strong frame and maybe some 3pc cranks, etc. thanks

Fit makes some pretty good completes, Check http://www.fitbikeco.com the $300 Pro model has chromoly 3-pieces and the Team has sealed hubs and aluminum 3 pieces, about $400.

  31. 10-26-2004 12:31 PM #101
i know fit makes completes, not bad ones either....

Yup. I'll be getting a Rhythm IL2 very soon. I don't have the $$$ to build a custom.
As far as completes go; the specs/geometry of Hoffman bikes are good, and the parts are pretty good too. Just stay with the intermediate or pro series though.
