There was.... when the project just got finished. The brakes started to smoke because it couldn't handle the northstar, so the brakes go upgraded. Sounds really insane too.

Just imagine when you turn with it. If VR6s rollover, this thing should be able to perform some awesome acrobatics
Thanks VWvortex for the hard work!

    1. The Vortex is full of Brand Name Whores ,It's not their fault, That's how they were raised

    2. What i post is strictly my opinion, If you don't like it go cry to your mother, even though she hates you too

they should have put that in the rear! That would be totally sick in a 4 door, with 2 doors for engine access!

Front9 deserves the "typical vortexer comment of the day" award.
these forums are funny. i love the critics on here.... everyone's so positive. "man, my 16v just kills compared to anything." bla, bla, bla. THERE'S A FRIGGIN' 32V V8 on SDS UNDER THE HOOD OF A 4-DOOR A2 GOLF. not to mention that the car looks better than almost all other 4-doors that i've seen on the vortex. the red "el jeffe" car from futrell is takes the cake in the looks department.... but this car would STOMP it in a drag race. if you see this, NICE WORK CAM!

  22. 04-25-2004 12:56 AM #23
heavy or not think how much fun this car would be to drive. Awsome swap Id like to see some current videos if there is any floating around

And for you people baggin on the auto trans, that makes it the cadillac northstar v8 it shouldnt be any other way

edit: Im sure people wouldnt be criticizing it if it was a W8.. dont be racist.

  24. 04-25-2004 02:39 AM #25
That is a crazy swap and in an A2.My managers brother is doing it into a 914 porche. Some may call it blasphemy but one ride could change a lot of minds.

and a couple feet more forward than a vr. that thing probably flips all over like john holmes on viagra ninja stylz

  27. 04-25-2004 10:06 PM #28
You wouldn't believe how much the northstar engine costs. It's a really nice colour, which is hard to take pictures of. Yeah, sometimes you forget it's four door, it really does suit it.

You'd be VERY surprised at how well this car handles! But then again what would I know from having driven in the car several times. One ride in this car would shut all you annoying nay-sayers up real quickly!
BTW Last time I checked the 32V Northstar is only 50lbs heavier than a VR6.

Another VW thread derailed by one in a long list of insecure TCL tools.

    are the speed holes functional?

other than that, i'd say this is insane. how about this and momentum's rear engine 1.8t line up for a race?

I'm always right. The sooner you realize this, the easier things will be.

    (VW)'s I've retired: '69 Type 2 Panel, '88 Scirocco 8v, '89 Scirocco 16v, '92 GTI 16v, '91 Jetta VR6, '00 Audi A4, '94 Passat Wagon, '59 Type 2 Single Cab,'67 Type 2 Double Cab...

Absolutely! I used a Mazda RX7 engine oil cooler mounted right behind the bumper. It wasn't getting much air flow so I figured I'd get the old hole saw out.....

    Cam.
