There goes the myth that the Japanese are the most efficient people on the planet. Hand the crown back to the Germans. It's entertaining for the freak factor, like a really fat woman, but I prefer an underwear model any day.

OCTOBER 29, 2010 - THE PICS WORK AGAIN, AFTER NEARLY 6 YEARS!
This was a meet at Daikoku in Yokohama a couple of days after January 1st.To celebrate the new year, bosozoku (motorcycle hooligans) cruise into Kamakura on motorcycles via the Shonan (like our PCH) in droves.Their other favorite mode of transport is an unregistered Mark II or Cresta (our Cressida) with its roof chopped off...The weekend after January 1st, they gather at Daikoku (a well-known spot for meets) for a huge meet at a rest stop... This is where I snapped these pics. The cars ranged from bozo'd out old school Laurels/Crestas/Skylines to crazy vans and flashing trucks...
Daikoku is in the middle of the tangle of off/on-ramps
Aerial shot
The meet went on until 4am, when the police (all the red lights on the left) decided to shut it down, using Skyline GT-R police cars![]()
Bosozoku in the flesh
The musical entertainment for the evening
Bozo'd scooters
I have video of this one... It was incredible... Very epilepsy-inducing
I am so doing this to my S13
Bozo'd chopped Corolla (our Geo Prizm)
Bozo's chopped Mark II wagon
Part 2 coming soon... Gotta save that bandwidth

What IS it with weird oil coolers/intercoolers on the outside? That's not "cool" is it? (it ain't here!).As for the exhausts.. I mean... <head explodes>
#8

i don't care how fast those things may or may not be.....10 degrees negative camber and star shaped exhausts are stupid no matter how you slice it

That is gangsta!
Need to get more pics of this one, too. I've never seen an old one.
This kind of has a futuristic post-apocalyptic look to it, maybe that's why it's popular over there?

Reminds me of the Grip video I have, closest I will get to Daikoku for a long time. Find a host and post any video you have.

No, that's a C130 Nissan Laurel. Mechanically, it's identical to a C110 Skyline, for the most part. Some of the less radical C110 Skylines are just beautiful! I'm really digging the MX70 Chaser/Cresta/MarkII's, too...

You act like this is a new thing. Note the cars... Skylines, Laurels, and Celicas from the '70s, big Toyota sedans from the '80s... this style is old, it's been going on for a long long time. The cars are so radical because people have just been one-upping each other for that long.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the last thing I ever expected to see on one of those vans is a mural of a tanuki doing his laundry.

I definitely like this one. Any more pictures, possibly larger?
I feel confident that I will not soon understand Japanese Car culture. I can only hope to one day experience it first hand because it looks like all kinds of fun.

Very interesting, to say the least. I believe these are there normal transport trucks ?
I know alot of countries don`t go as big or heavy as the U.S.
This was a good post, I won`t be visiting it again though. I`ve already
eaten more than I need. 56k isn`t fun, but nothing else is offered here.

Wow... what a freak show...Nicely done though. A lot of work went into some of those, so I'll give them a
for that.
