"Are you referring to the incident with Montoya at the previous race or what? Please explain."
No. Some time ago, Schumacher was racing against Damon Hill for the title. Schumacher had a choice: either let Damon past and lose the championship, or turn his front wheels into Damon's car to take him out of the race. A photograph was published that clearly showed Schumacher turning the wheel to a degree necessary to eliminate Hill. From that moment onwards, I have never respected his sportsmanship.
But, if not already clear, I recognise his talent.

Also, when he tried it again on Villeneuve...
But he is incredibly talented, hard to deny that.

That was in Adelaide... I remeber that well.... I cant stand him, but thats just cos I am sick of him winning!!! (honest enough to say that )
I do think he is a step above the field in terms of skills!!!
That said, betcha a tenner he wins tonite!!!

True.
I have to admit that I once saw Ayrton Senna interviewed after he intentionally ran into the back of Alain Prost. It was almost an identical set of circumstances to the Hill/Schumacher situation I mentioned before. Senna's taking out Prost denied Prost the championship in favour Ayrton.
I'll never forget the look on Senna's face. He had this intense look of frustration as he said "You don't understand... I just had to do it."
[Go Rubens!]

It's funny to see Rubens get the bad luck with the tyre change again. My brother in law does a great impersonation of Schumacher being busted in the garage at 2am taking a spanner to Rubens car. "Ja hello Rubens. I'm just tightening up your wheels nut Ja.

How about when Montoya hit one of his pit crew when his brakes went bad. Anyone got onboard footage of that?

I was bored to tears, but strangely glad that his winning run is continuing... Maybe its because once he has broken EVERY record, he might retire....

woohoo.... my fave GP next week!!! Monaco!!!! Im gonna drink myself into a frenzy!!

13. 05-13-2004 08:30 AM #38
To win in Monaco places a driver's name on a list that includes many of history's all-time greats. Both Graham Hill, the man nicknamed 'Mr Monaco', and Schumacher have won it five times, Alain Prost took four victories, whilst Stirling Moss and Jackie Stewart each won here three times. But the record of wins in the Principality resides with the Senna, who won in Monte Carlo six times.
Looks like Schumies gonna get another record next week!!! Just breathe.... relax.... if he gets em all he will retire......

Last year at Monaco zero overtakings took place. Lots of history in the race, and a nice tunnel, but unless there is some crashing action, I reckon it will be less interesting than Barcelona. I'm sure I'll be up till 1:30am watching it anyway!
Some guy (Brian Lawrence) posts this info on rec.autos.sport.f1 after every race...

Wow!
What channell is it on ???
“I would request that my body in death be buried not cremated, so that the energy content contained within it gets returned to the earth, so that flora and fauna can dine upon it, just as I have dined upon flora and fauna during my lifetime” - Neil deGrasse Tyson.

None of ours?
The F1 race will be on Channel 10, of course...

18. 05-14-2004 05:33 AM #43
Most people I know whinge about the commentary team, but I reckon they are OK..... Even Channel 10's guys arent awful, though I am glad when the poms get back on... (cept for their "fly in the face of reality" optimism when it comes to how the poms are doing in the race... )

Have a great trip. Make sure you take lots of photos.

Hey mdt, you remember that race where some freak rolled a bloody big rock out in front of Dick Johnosn in his "true blue" Falcon back in the 80's? You could be that freak on a much bigger stage rolling one out in front of Schumie. Make sure you paint on it a greeting to all texers....

22. 05-20-2004 07:54 AM #47
Well, Webbers car caught fire, and the engine may need to be replaced, which means he will drop back to P25 on the grid. Schumie is on top after first practice, with the 2 bars behind, and Coulthard in 5th... Anyone want a wager on this weekends race? $50 on Schumie winning!!!
Coulthard used the following phrases/ words in conference:
pi$$ed off
its all bollocks...
Hmmm. Nicest guy in F1 is getting nasty... I guess its only at journo's, so thats OK....
I enjoyed this exchange:
Q: Do you feel you need to have a car to show off your talents or do you feel your history, your form in the past should get you a ride for next year?
DC:I think that if you don’t have a history, you either have the word potential beside your name or you are not considered someone who will be in Formula One for very long. So I have gone through a period in my career where I started with no history and just that word potential. Then you turn that word into race results, so I am comfortable to look back on the results I have and use those.
Q: You feel that is going to stand you in good stead?
DC:Let’s wait and see what happens.
Q: You are not giving out very positive vibes here, David.
DC:No, I am very positive, but I can’t tell you…
Q: I don’t want details, I am just saying, you know…
DC:What are you asking for?
Q: I said ‘are things looking fairly good?’ and you didn’t say ‘yes they are’…
DC:Well, you know, yes, things are looking very good. Is that better?!
Q: Can I have a big smile as well?!!
DC:Ok, sorry, what you have to do is ask a question and tell me what answer you would like me to give to make you happy.

Go, DC, those journo's need to be run down!!!

MS on Pole again!! For those who says seeing Ferrari winning all the time is boring is just untrue. Consider they took 15 years to get to where they are now, all i can say is i appreciate and admire their team effort. Its just like saying it was so boring watching Mark Skaife win all the time in V8 during the past years, and now where is he? thats my opinion only though.

I got no problems with Ferrari winning, as you say they did it tough for many years ... it's the bloke doing the driving that leaves me void of emotion for their success.
