Rather than starting a new thread every race, I thought it might be an idea to keep an F1 thread going. This will allow us to post updates on the behind the scenes manoevuring and goings-on. Which frankly, is more interesting than the racing at the moment.

according to F1 Racing magazine, Kimi Raikkonen is going to farrari at the end of this year?

will be good, he seems to be a pretty good driver, and with a decent car, he could be really good? abit like Jenson, i think this year will be interesting

      Re: Kimi to Ferrari

Don't see that working - Ferrari drivers need to have a bit of personality. Can't blame him for wanting to leave MacLaren though! I think Alonso, Massa or Fisi will be going to Ferrari if/when Shu retires. Rubens has re-signed with Ferrari for at least the next season.

My predictions for team switches in 2005 are:
      Ferrari unchanged
      Kimi to stay at MacLaren
      Montoya to MacLaren
      Webber to Williams
Gene to go from test to race seat at Williams
      Button to stay at BAR
      Someone to replace Sato
Ralf to Toyota to replace Panis
      Coultard to Jag

Bit early to be talking about next year already though! How about those rule changes!

My 9am Monday meetings at work suck after a GP!

Reubens has signed for 2005 & 2006 with Ferrari in Jan this year

      http://www.ananova.com/sport/s...sport

Unless Schumacher retires or Kimi wants to be a test driver, he won't go to Ferrari before 2007.

oh ok, call me an ass but i want Schumi to retire... its quite boring now-a-days... i guess its not that bad this year because teams/drivers are catching up... i was so happy that Jenson qualified in front of him at Imola... im usualy a BMW Williams fan, but just the fact that a non-ferrari driver beat schumi... i was quite impressed

anyways... dont yell please thats only my opinion

I'm also looking forward to some competition - but Williams has big problems with sooky boy Montoya and disinterested money hungry Ralf.

Hopefully Webber (and maybe Dixon?) gets in there next year to make a better effort.

Living in the UK, I really didn;t like Button when he first started since the press went on and on about him, but really think he handled the Villenuve thing well and am happy he (and Honda) are doing well.

      Fastest in Friday practice too.

Schumie has won the catalunya GP....... Kimi's engine blew up, Ralf spun, and montoya whinged about anything.... Oh wait, cant spoil the results til tomorrow afternoon....

MS on Pole again!! For those who says seeing Ferrari winning all the time is boring is just untrue. Consider they took 15 years to get to where they are now, all i can say is i appreciate and admire their team effort. Its just like saying it was so boring watching Mark Skaife win all the time in V8 during the past years, and now where is he? thats my opinion only though.

    13. 05-08-2004 10:49 AM #13
I can't say I mind it too much, because they do deserve it. Sure, it's more interesting to have cars battling for the lead, but it's all relative.

We've been getting lots of action mid-field, so there's plenty to watch.

    14. 05-08-2004 12:00 PM #14
BlahBoy, i wasnt directing the comments to you.... just a general comment. But with MS and JBM side by side at the start, there will definitely be action tommorrow

    15. 05-08-2004 08:29 PM #15
Well I was only responding to your comments in general too, so it all works out.

You're right, that front row is a ticking time bomb...

Ralf and Reubens aren't really the best of mates either, and with the fast starting Renaults in the top 8 or so, I reckon there will be a bit of carbon fibre flying around early on the first lap.

    17. 05-08-2004 10:23 PM #17
Haha... Kimi could get some more points if there is a big off that takes out Ferrari, williams, Renault and Bar....
And, yes it is boring seeing MS win all the time... Yes, he is a great driver, but he lacks the personality of Ayrton. It is too boring. I dont care how long it took Ferrari to come good... I liked last year when the championship was stitched up in the last race. Having said that, how amazing would it be for MS to win the championship in record time this year, and set a bunch more new records, like earliest championship determination, most races won in a season, and most abrasive petty competitive comments brushed off in a year..... I would still enjoy watching that!!! So is this Schumies last year in F1? I reckon he should go to Minardi and build it up like he built Ferrari up!!!

Don't worry, there's more than one of us around here that agrees with you. I don't like Schumacher coz I think he's a cheat, but I still get some delight from knowing that we are witnessing arguably the best driver that has ever competed in Formula 1.

I still want him to go though. There again, it would be nice to see him languishing around the back of the grid as he makes an increasing number of mistakes. Then he might get sacked by Ferrari. That would be good. Oh dear, did I really say that....

I'll watch the qualifying news on RPM and then watch the delayed coverage on Ten tonight.

So can you guys please put in warnings and a large amount of spaces ahead of your posts if your going to post any kind of results be they qualifying or practise.

I swear to god if they put on that Big Brother up late crap before the F1 I for one will be livid. I just hope Fox digital adds Speed Vision channel soon or the full Eurosports channel so we can get the qualifying and race live.

Sorry Al. Will try and remember next time.

The moment live F1 racing/qualifying comes to Fox or Optus, I will subscribe for the first time.

No. Some time ago, Schumacher was racing against Damon Hill for the title. Schumacher had a choice: either let Damon past and lose the championship, or turn his front wheels into Damon's car to take him out of the race. A photograph was published that clearly showed Schumacher turning the wheel to a degree necessary to eliminate Hill. From that moment onwards, I have never respected his sportsmanship.

But, if not already clear, I recognise his talent.

But he is incredibly talented, hard to deny that.

      True.

I have to admit that I once saw Ayrton Senna interviewed after he intentionally ran into the back of Alain Prost. It was almost an identical set of circumstances to the Hill/Schumacher situation I mentioned before. Senna's taking out Prost denied Prost the championship in favour Ayrton.

I'll never forget the look on Senna's face. He had this intense look of frustration as he said "You don't understand... I just had to do it."

      [Go Rubens!]

      zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

It's funny to see Rubens get the bad luck with the tyre change again. My brother in law does a great impersonation of Schumacher being busted in the garage at 2am taking a spanner to Rubens car. "Ja hello Rubens. I'm just tightening up your wheels nut Ja.

I was bored to tears, but strangely glad that his winning run is continuing... Maybe its because once he has broken EVERY record, he might retire....
