I have lost track of Waynes predictions. And his current garage.

Missed the race twice. Anyone record it?

Wow that is seriously an issue for Ferrari. How long are they going to stand by their man? He did lead the race though lol.

The question is, is Massa really that bad or is this car that much of a dog? Can't really use Alonso as a yard stick. That guy can really drive anything no matter how bad it is.

There was one prediction I made at the start of the year before the season started which I am going to review later in the year. As if you could have done better. Anyway, I think I said RBR is going to be the team to beat again, which at this point is clearly not the case. Aside from that, some of the others will still come through. I am only hoping for 50% hit rate lol.

I can't recall which 'one' that was, Wayne. There have been too many.

I assume its because you are so passionate about F1. I am less so now. I am even boycotting watching Bahrain next week.

Massa should be replaced - stat!

Don't boycott the Bahrain GP Steve, everything is hunky dory, Bernie said so!

"There's nothing happening," Ecclestone said. "I know people that live there and it's all very quiet and peaceful."

    6. 04-15-2012 07:47 PM #16946
those people are just cold, and trying to warm up a bit, what with Bahrain being the cold place that it is.

Steve brings up a good point, and one that I've been thinking about a bit in the last few days. As a tv audience that bank rolls Bernie's world, should I not watch Bahrain? Am I supporting the bloodshed if I do? Like Steve said, I'm absolutely passionate about this sport (in fact for me it's the only professional sport I'm passionate about), but I feel wrong watching it. What are the rest of you guys going to do?

I will watch it, but shake my fist furiously at the screen

    12. 04-15-2012 10:51 PM #16952
      Haha! Nice.

I won't watch, and will do my best to ignore the results at the end of the year when I get around to calculating drivers championship points.

I boycotted qualifying on the weekend in the flurry of stories of Bahrain only to log on to the Tex to find that I'd missed qualifying in China.

No idea why you people are so up against Bahrain. Imean places like Sao Paolo are far more dangerous with more people getting kidnapped and killed every day than in Bahrain. Yet, everyone is happy seeing races in Brasil every year.

Of course, track in Bahrain is sh1t but that's a different issue alltogether

...and China is neither a model of democracy nor human rights

It seems to me that mixing sport and politics never facilitates rational debate about either

    17. 04-16-2012 07:08 PM #16957
Even KL is dodgy. When you look at the homeless living on the rail tracks between the airport and the city and consider how much money was spent on the track, it becomes obvious that F1 isn't in any way considerate of human rights.

I guess Bahrain is more a current crisis than the others right now.

Even in Australia, the way the AGP treats the rights of residents and users of Albert Park is utterly disgusting and akin to human rights abuse.

The lunch packs for the marshals this year would have violated the Geneva Convention....

That may be true, and perhaps even on a per capita basis. However, it doesn't change the fact that the onset of big business capitalism in Malaysia is ripping the country apart on social and environmental fronts. The fact that the same thing happens in America is hardly a justification, nor is it excusable. Human rights are still being abused. In Malaysia, there is not a system that protects rights like there is in America, and Americas system is crap.

This is getting further and further away from the issue at hand. Bahrain residents are under direct immediate attack from a government determined to hold onto its power. The scale of the violence at present is worthy of protest.

I don't disagree with anything you said there, however I am wondering now if the protestors in Bahrain actually want us to watch the race (now that it is on) so that they have an audience for their protest?

and that government holds a very significant financial interest in Formula 1 through various channels.

I put up an article yesterday that had a quote from an opposition spokesman saying that's exactly what they want (ie. not stop the race, but piggyback off the global audience).

So now the right thing to do is to watch it, but be really angry, as publicly as possible, throughout the process?

Like MickyD said, wave your fist angrily throughout the race.

Scarbs has some more of my pics up on his blog. Caterham upright, and RBR supercaps (which is a particularly interesting one - I had zero idea what I was looking at when I took the pics)

I'm no electrical engineer but I've read a bit about caps here and there and was suprised they use "regular" batteries at all tbh and more suprised "super" caps arent the norm given the advantages.. but nfi how heavy/big they'd have to be to power the motor tho.. but yeah pretty interesting.. Nice goin

What's cap? Capacitors? We use them on fifth scale ESC to regulate the noise from batteries.

Don't laugh, when I look at the pics from MickyD, for example the front hubs, it looks exactly like an RC car! Haven't read the article on ScarbF1, but looking at his description on the photos, if I told someone in the RC scene that it is a pic of a RC race car, they would agree.

Sebastian Vettel's 2012 struggle looks set to continue for now.

It has emerged that, despite the reigning back-to-back champion preferring the launch version of the RB8, Red Bull has decided that Vettel will drive the latest specification of the car's exhaust layout in Bahrain this weekend.

Vettel had hoped modification guru Wayne Leng could offer Newey some advice, but Leng's car purchasing commitments have precluded this taking place.

In China, the team allowed Vettel to go back to the previous spec, while Mark Webber qualified better and finished higher with Adrian Newey's latest developments.

"He can't get the confidence he needs with the car," admitted Helmut Marko on Austrian Servus TV, "and this makes him make uncharacteristic mistakes."

Nonetheless, Red Bull has decided that the 'Webber-specification' exhaust is the right way forward.

"We will go on with the Mark Webber car," Marko confirmed.

As for why the team's Australian driver feels more comfortable in the updated car, Marko surmised: "Mark is less sensitive to the (car's) behavior.

"He just needs two wheels, but it's different for Vettel," he said.
