haha... very true.. but thats like comparting apples and oranges.. a V6 jetta would sell much better than an RS3...

btw... wat does the "R" stand for in VR-6?

    vien rein motor 6

what engine will replace the VR6?

i dont kno for sure.. this is truely speculation, but i would probably bet we'll see the 3.0 in the near future... its possible they stick the 2.8 in it if they keep that engine in the passat, but it seems liek to me it'd lower costs all around if they focussed their energy on the 3.0 and the 3.2.

not to mention that 2.8 has been around for awwwwwile - not to say its not a great engine but the 3.0 is an improvement

i wouldnt put it past vw to give us a 3.2 GLi at some point.. but i dont want to start rumors - theres no evidence that that'll ever happen.

It would be a V6 the R represents the fact that the pistons are at a tighter (closer) V than a \/6. Thats what makes it smaller than most V6's. I forget the exact angles of the cylanders but it is indeed closer than the avg. bear.

    you can't fit a regular 45 degree V6 in a Golf/Jetta...

    i believe the VR6 angle is 15degrees.

Ouh, what discussion? Audi has confirmed there won't be RS8/RS3, only models to receive RS-marking are A4 and A6, and Quattro GmbH can only produce one car at the time, at the moment they're preparing the line for RS4, and next one will be new RS6.. but that's still far off.

So, let's move to speculate about S3 rather, shall we?

i predict the S3 will be the equivalent of the VW R36 with a tad more luxury.

The RS3 is a no go and nothing has been formally anounced on the S3, not even so much as what engine... when and if might be a few years down the road.

Audi will have alot of buzz with this new car, and in the simple business aspect is not going to change alot when the car is still flying out the door...the have to slowly release Quattro, Sline, 3.2, etc...after all that is done, and quieted down (maybe fall/winter) of next year, only then will they start thinking or even talking about a S3 is my guess....figure a good 2 years if at all.

I think we'd be happy with an S3 in 2-3 years, mebbe 280-300 HP??????I don't think it's reasonable even to hope for an RS3....at least in the US

if there is a RS3, my guess is that we will not see in the States. Very high price point.
