I had two extra pairs of front fenders and used the flare off of each one for each corner including the rears. First real winter storm coming through VT today so I'll be spending more time in the garage until it's done.

    ... and we're back.

Rear suspension beam is in place, main portion of exhaust is on, shifterbox is in. Hopefully rolling it out of the garage in the next few days to do some final sandblasting.

1 and 3/4inch hub spacer mock fit up... I think I'll have to go just a smidged narrower so I don't rub. Startin to get an idea for how it'll look.

ARP rod and mains are installed- waiting on some Yamabond that should be in Monday and then the head will go back on and the engine will start coming together with all new seals, gaskets, guides and tensioners. I have to say that I enjoy the engine work much more than any other part of the project... besides driving it that is.

Winter is coming and I don't want to have to stay in VT for the cold and snow... and I would rather move without the car than stay in VT with it. So... I'm considering selling it if I can get a decent offer. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1708092 I'm not hardcore enough to tow it behind the Audi all the way to Cali.

  11. 11-29-2004 11:35 PM #81
Wow, that kind of sucks. I was waiting for an update on that project, it's going to look sick as hell when it's done. I hope you reconsider keeping it and start it up again when it's going to be better weather. You put a lot of time and $ in to it. Just keep it till you be able to finish it up. Good luck with it and keep us updated.

  12. 12-06-2004 09:51 PM #82
andy dont sell it, this one looks to be even cooler then the last + the cops (and ricers) will have to figuer it all out again, lol

    just a little inseration.

andy where did you get those yellow bulbs you had and what kind were thay i want some for the mk3

keep it!! You've put your time and energy into this.. don't jsut sell it off because you don't want to bring it to CA. You could tow it or ship it, and just think of it as an mk2 expense. You'll love it when its done...

Still a little more work to do on the bottom of this one as you can see... The body is just about done... no really it's getting closer.

The paint is going to be Carbon Black Metallic... have a gallon and a half waiting on a shelf for it. If things go as planned this weekend and I don't get called in to work then it may see color Monday night, 1/31. If I don't have time or it isn't quite ready Monday then it will get it Sunday or Monday next week.

I was pictorally challenged until I got a decent digicam for xmas from the folks- a Pentax Optio s50. My old sony looked like I was taking pics with my dam cell phone.

Top 10 reasons this project has been draggin along slowly for the last tw months:

    10) Tigerwoods PGA 2005 on ps2
    9) I suck at bodywork.
    8) My day job gets in the way.
    7) I've been trying to fix every little thing on my Audi... goodbye money.
    6) Spike TV... MXC is effin great.
    5) Speedchannel
    4) MagicHat
    3) Snowboarding...
    2) I'm lazy and unmotivated.
