I saw 2010 on TV the other day, and it piqued my interest up on the book sequels, so I bought 2061 the other day. I've heard 3001 wasn't that good, but will probably have to pick that up just to finish it.

2010 is a great book - I enjoyed the whole series and believe 3001 is certainly worth reading if only to get a feel for what ACC thinks the future has in store; one of my favorite authors for sure.

I'm currently reading "Voyage From Yesteryear" by James P Hogan. Slow going in the beginning but getting interesting now.

Yep, after I finished 2061 I bought 3001 this weekend. I'm about half way through, and I'm wondering how he is going to wrap this up. Let us know how "Voyage from Yesteryear" turns out. I might pick it up as I'm on a Sci-Fi kick right now.

Now I'm reading "The Footprints of God" by Greg Iles. Pretty good so far, but I've seen a few things coming before they happened. Interesting story plot that makes you think.

Go ahead and pick up The Giants Novels by the same author (JP Hogan) - good stuff, I finished it a while ago.

On another note, in between sci-fi novels I read 'The Prince of Tides' by Pat Conroy - absolutely one of the best books I've read; Conroy's writing is an experience in itself, and that book is a masterpiece.

I'm just finishing up "A Confederacy of Dunces", pretty good. Interesting background- the author (John Kennedy Toole) wasn't able to get it published, a frustration that undoubtedly contributed to him taking his own life with the book still unpublished. After his death his mother spent years trying to get the book published. When she eventually succeeded in finding a willing publisher it ended up winning a Pulitzer prize for fiction in '81.

just started Sunday Driver by Brock Yates. its the newer (2004) edition with the updated intro. the book was published in '72 originally. so far, it seems very promising. it received great reviews upon its release over 30 years ago, so i figured why not give it a try.

just started High &Mighty by Keith Bradshear. it's a book about how dangerous some ppl feel that SUVs are, & how they contribute extra to the whole global warming thing

i bought it merely as a hold-over book till Taken for a Ride... gets here, but i think it could be pretty interesting. so far, it's not a 400-page rant about the author's (and many other's) displeasure towards the gross misuse of SUVs, as some ppl have described it.

the book starts with the very beginning of the SUV, & slowly works its way through the development, & points out the individuals & even legislation that has enabled the SUV to become so popular in America. if nothing else comes from this read, it will be quite informative, & ya just might learn somethin'
