You call that a good win? I would have expected UI to blow them out by 15; they essentially returned their entire 2nd place NCAA team vs the backups from the NCAA championship team for UNC. They looked pretty awful from what i saw (1st half).
Big games are tonight. I'm hoping the ACC can take 3/4, especially Duke over Indy and GT can pull off the upset over MSU

illinois is definitely not the same team... williams + head were 1st rd picks... i don't know any team that could effectively replace starters of their caliberyeah, unc is pretty much an all new team, but that doesn't mean they're not talented + not well-coached... also, it was @ chapel hill
so i'd argue that it's a good, if not pretty, win for the illini
#1897
It was a great win considering that Roy Williams and UNC had the refs in their pocket once more. Oh, Illinois is up by 13? Call some phantom fouls and keep it close.Though, I didn't like all the inside shots Illinois let up.
Anyone else see Randle becoming a massive stud? Wow ... can't wait till Dee gets his shot back soon and Randle stays out of foul trouble. Augustine didn't play well at all, IMO.

half-time score... florida st 58, purdue 23i still have a headache
wonder what marcus white thinks about leaving uconn now... he can start playing for the boilers in jan

i certainly expected ui to dominate that game a bit more, perhaps unc won't be that bad
Gonzaga Bulldogs
Seattle Sounders
Seattle Seahawks

As soon as the game was getting out of hand, the refs pulled UNC back into it. I'd love to send the game tape to a ghost hunter or something, cuz those were some phantom calls.

Yeah same team, except Head, Williams, Powell, Smith........ our big minute guys except for Dee and James.
It was pretty sloppy of Illinois to get out of the game for the last 5 minutes.......

a little bitter about a former big east member?i believe the 12th team will be different each yr

I have never liked BC kind of a holier than thou thing going on over at Chestnut Hill...For a long time they would'nt recruit "certain" athlete's now they are getting west coast Thugs...I guess it also has to do with an idea that BC will improve themselves by going to the ACC when especially in Basketball they really were never better than just good in the Big East...And ACC ball is supposed to be the best

i remember when penn st joined the big 10 in the early 90's, when geography (+ counting correctly) still meant something to conferencesto this day, the pittsburgh media still doesn't know how to cover teams from minnesota + iowa

Seriously. Overall they were mediocre at best in their body of work while members of the Big East.
Not according to my nutso next door neighbor though: "I wonder what is going to happen now that BC has left, as BC was Big East basketball."

They weren't even close to being a top-tier team overall.

Personally, I wouldn't bare any ill will towards BC if they hadn't been all high and mightly about Miami and Va Tech leaving only to turn and do the exact same thing when the ACC offered them to join up.

Yeah but Conference USA never had the same Market Appeal or History as the Big East...The Big East should be a wide open league this year...Team won loss records will be down but RPIs and SOS should be up

agreed... but the big east got all pissy about having teams stolen from them, then they go out + do the same

They still got a ton better in basketball. It's no secret they're trying to establish themselves in football too...
When the BCS system is up in 2008 (i think?)
5(maybe 6?) conferences get bowl bids automatically... obviously, it's about the money.
Hell you should see the enormous facilities they are building here at uconn for the football team.![]()

The change at UConn sports-wise over the past 20 years has been phenominal.I remember watching them on CPTV (Connecticut Public Television) as a kid. their old gym on campus was pretty funny when you think back to it.
