Thread: Dog just ate bunch of fiberglass insulation.

    1. 02-21-2005 02:16 PM #1
I'm staying temporarily at my parents' place while they're renovating and my dog managed to rip up a bunch of old fiberglass insulation sometime last night. He puked it up all over the place and doesn't seem any worse for wear. He was his usual playful self and ate all his kibble this morning without any problems and did his business normally.

Should I take him to vet anyway? Although I really REALLY don't have any extra money at the moment.

i would start by calling a vet, and mabey an insulation manufacturer to see what the health risks are.

Well, it's been a couple of days and he hasn't shown any unusual behavior or change in appetite so I think he's fine.

Friend of mine ate some insulation in college. Probably about a square inch worth. None the worse for wear except a hangover the next day from the various other substances he ingested.

It hurts when it's in the gut, but the glass is fine enough that it should all pass through.

My pit has eaten the following

      Insulation
      Model cement
tons of stuffing from stuffed monkeys
      a few cat toys

      He's still going strong

my dog loves to eat paper towels.
I know this because they pass through his system in one piece.

Thing is, I dont know where he's getting them. Kitchen trashcan has a lid, and I make sure to clean up everything after dinner, etc.
