Thread: Pro-Imports K04-20 Turbo Kit Official Post

    1. 03-22-2005 10:08 AM #1
First off, here are some dynos of the kit on pump gas with no sprayer system:

      And with AFR:

For all the dynos visit http://www.pro-imports.com/dyno.htm. For comparison, this kit is putting out close to the same numbers as the APR Stage 3 (290, 296 at the crank). We're at 280 hp and 310 ft-lbs at the crank!

The kit is available now for $2799. The first 10 kits installed will get a free dyno run to see how much power you're making. And if you're a current Revo customer you'll get the free dyno run and $100 off the price of the kit.

For more complete details watch this page http://www.pro-imports.com/k04kit.htm. (We will be continually updating it.)

Also we will be having another open dyno day in the near future with representatives from Revo, VWVortex and Audi World present. We'll be dynoing several cars with the kit in different configurations to provide a demonstration of the flexibility we can offer you.

If you have any questions post them up, or shoot an e-mail over to info@pro-imports.com.

If you'd like to place an order, give us a call at the shop (301-881-4905) and ask for Pat or myself.

      Cheers!

Not trying to knock you, I think that is a nice kit. But APR 3 kits put ~260whp down on 93 octane (most a little more).

    3. 03-22-2005 12:20 PM #3
APR claims 290 at the crank, and we're at 280 at the crank. This is the comparison we're making.

      Cheers!

      to you guys!

i think you guys did a hell of a job on this kit. i think regardless of your numbers being slightly lower or higher than APR's is pointless here. you have a K04 kit that is putting these numbers and they don't. not to knock on APR because they have very nice kits too but these are 2 different turbo's.

i myself have GIAC software but did come up to your shop to get the revo trial and had lots of fun with it.

      congrats on this kit!

Buy my 20th! 550WHP/480TQ only 3k on the engine: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...I-(BMP)-550whp

There are a few in here. 267whp and 272whp.

mj6234 - The APR kit does make power, we're not trying to say it doesn't. However if you look at those runs, they're on race gas, from 100 to 104 octane.

      shotofgmplease - Thanks!

I do work on cars, anything short of engine and transmission rebuilding can be done. welding, custom and aftermarket as well as regular repairs. IM me for details, shop is in WOodbridge.

      Let's see...

We don't have any pics of the new and old manifolds side by side. The new one is a factory piece, so the quality is top notch.

The test car has 3" exhaust, intake, FMIC and our stuff.

All the rest of the info can be found on our site at http://www.pro-imports.com/k04kit.htm.

On a side note, yesterday on race gas with a 10 sec FMIC spray, the car made 282 whp and 346 ftlbs of torque (dyno sheet will follow shortly). That's 324 crank hp and 398 crank torque!

      Cheers!

Is software included in the kit? If not what software is recommended? And is this kit already for sale, and if so can it be shipped immediately? Thanx

Not to be nitpicky, but is 11.3% driveline loss accurate? Shouldn't it be more like 12-15%? Ok, it IS nitpicking, but you guy could advertise even higher numbers for crank.

    17. 03-31-2005 01:46 PM #17
You're correct. 13% seems to be the popular percentage, and thats what I used..

Except I did the math wrong. It should be the wheel number multiplied by 1.15. Doh! I edited the post for the new math...

      Good looking out, thanks!

And if you're a current Revo customer you'll get the free dyno run and $100 off the price of the kit.

Thats kind of a slap in the face for current Revo users! Software costed $500 and all we could get is $100 off? So basicly curent Revo customers are paying extra $400 for this kit since we already paid once for the software! sucks!

Still a great deal, and dont you need upgraded software for the bigger turbo which most other tuners charge for anyway ?

You are getting a new chip so basically look at it as getting $100 off because you are a repeat customer! LOL

The individual components we use in the kit are now all available on our online store, most here: http://www.pro-imports.com/ind...id=56. These are the same pieces we use in the kit (with the exception of the TIP, the custom made Samco TIP is for complete kit customers only). Each part carries a 90 day warranty against failure due to defect. We have serialized all of these pieces for tracking and for warranty purposes.

We will also be offering to any customer purchasing a k04-20 turbo from us the same software file being distributed in the full kit. With the purchase of the k04-20, the software is available for $625.00. If you are a current revo customer, and purchase the turbo, the upgrade fee would be $225. These prices are completely independent of what we are doing with the Equalizer turbo kit.

      More updates to come...

those are nice numbers on paper, but look at the curve....there's no power up top. The power peak is at like 4500 rpm, it looks like you're driving a frickin diesel. You're only making like 240 whp at redline. Which is still good power for this kind of money but the curve tells the real story. This kit must be a real SOB around town but I can't imagine it competing with an APR stage III on the highway.

if someone makes software like apr with k04-20 then that would be a popular kit.

    29. 06-03-2005 11:09 AM #29
I like to think of Revo as being like APR, just better.

Anything EMCS does you can accomplish with the Revo SPS3 devices. Plus you don't have to open up the ecu and mess with it. Just plug the sps3 into the obd2 port and you're done!

      Cheers!

i just recently finished my k04-23 setup with parts and software from pro imports and i will say that they are great guys. i will also say that the kit is amazing, it is just what i was looking for, about a 250ish whp daily driver and thats just what it is, install went great and the car is fast!! and also on the highway the power doesnt fall on its face, it pulls pretty hard. mine holds 20psi to redline and you will be handing mildly modded v8's their a$$es, i know everyone on here hates on the k04 even though anyone who knows anything knows the k04-20 is not your average k04, but before this goes any further i will be doing a full review on everything once i have it dynoed, which should be in the next week or so
