Who do you bump out?

No. Mediocre would be giving them a compliment.

Ranked 29th in MLB with a 5.54 team era!

Cole Hamels is a 4.14 era in the NL. He wont save the Sox and I think he is a FA next year? No way the Sox should give up good young talent this year to add Hamels.

Hamel's is not the answer, not for his price tag anyway.

I'd like to see what the AAA arms can do.

Offense is very good.. If they had 2 legit starters they'd be in pretty good shape.

I play DFS (daily fantasy sports) and Red Sox pictures are basically a "do not start" unless the matchup is really tasty. And stacking opposing hitters can be a solid play.

they are about middle of the pack offensively 6th or 7th in the AL plus like 10th in avg, slg and ops, I think they are just about exactly where they were this time last year before the addition of the 2 bats [Hanley and Panda], is Hanley still hurt?

It seems like you can get tickets pretty easy right now. I get weekly e-mails from the Sox offering tickets.

Can the Red Sox fix their rotation on the trade market?

      http://www.overthemonster.com/2015/5...to-cole-hamels

There just isn't a whole lot the Red Sox can do to fix their rotation right now without overspending. Coming into the season, the team just needed one pitcher to exceed career norms and three to maintain their career averages in order to produce a palatable rotation; instead all five pitchers, at one point or another, have flopped. There's hope for a couple of them given recent starts, but the rotation is still a mess right now, and there's no obvious diamond in the rough to be found for Ben Cherington. Unless the Red Sox are willing to spend and spend big, this rotation might have to largely fix itself.

I just looked at the MLB standings. I was kind of surprised that the Sox aren't worst in the league for runs allowed. There are 3 or 4 teams in worse shape. The more surprising thing is that they're only middle of the pack for runs scored.

Wright pitches a good game last night, Miley is looking great, Napoli has woken from his slumber. I'm getting excited to see what this team can do when firing on all cylinders.

Went to Pam, our niece's, in CT for a Memorial Day BBQ and 1st birthday for their son. My mom, Parker's almost 92-year-old great-grandmother was there and is doing o.k.

Pam's dog is names Remmie. Parker was wearing a little Red Sox cap.

Nan, my wife, said, "we need to change that and get some Mets/Jets stuff."

"Be sure to get gift receipts."

I just took my mom for cataract surgery last Thursday. She did great! Asked if she's going to have the other eye done.

"No. I could die tonight. Started home hospice care over 2 years ago after my strokes. That was supposed to last 6 months at most. I know I'm going to have a fight with insurance even over coverage for this one. I'm supposed to be dead."

Uhh, when are they going to admit that the Farrell extension was a huge mistake?

I loved the hiring originally but, yeah, I'm wondering when he gets the hook.

The Red Sox’ refusal to address this disaster speaks volumes

      http://www.boston.com/sports/basebal...N4K/story.html

... Since Henry stood before the media on June 2 and professed that “Everything is Awesome,” despite the fact that his team had played like “bleep,” the Red Sox are a scorching 5-9, while the Jays and Orioles have gone 10-1 and 8-4, respectively, to leave Boston in the dust of irrelevancy. Just like that, in a matter of days, Henry’s most expensive baseball investment ever ($180 million-plus), went up in a smoke that even the ever-patient, projection-friendly owner had to be seething over.

This is the worst Red Sox team in a generation, not because of a poor collection of talent, but because of the uneven way that talent meshes. It is the most dysfunctional Red Sox team in most of our lifetimes because it isn’t remotely clear what its identity should be.

Those in power and able to do anything about it though continue to wear blinders and insist the way this season has started is an aberration. This, despite the fact that the Red Sox have been in last place for much of the time since they raised their World Series banner last April. It’s gotten to such a stalemate that we have to wonder if the Red Sox, even mired in the dregs of baseball, are content to instead count the cash the fifth-best attended park in baseball shuttles in.

      “So good. So good.”

Fenway Park has become a disgrace, a funeral parlor that inevitably awakens, for God knows what the hell reason, with that wretched song in the eighth inning. Is this still a novelty for some, like walking past “Cheers” and thinking you’re going to catch a glimpse of Norm Peterson? I hesitate to even call it a Boston “tradition,” for it is not, but at what point do we get this embarrassing stain off of our collective plates? The Red Sox were losing 13-5 to the Blue Jays on Sunday when Neil Diamond’s abomination resounded through the ballpark. Thirteen to five. Yet, as always, thousands of clueless sheep stood up and swayed to the music, before finally exiting the Tomb of the Depressing.

These are the people the Red Sox cater to. Not exactly the sort of group that’s going to demand change when the going gets rough. ...

This article makes a few good (obvious) points, but in general I hate writing like this.

It is the most dysfunctional Red Sox team in most of our lifetimes because it isn’t remotely clear what its identity should be.
What the hell does that even mean? What is a team's "identity"? Are the Sox losing because they don't have some mush-mouthed tool proclaiming them to be "The Idiots" or someone clever enough to come up with a slogan like "Cowboy Up"? Are they losing because they shaved their beards? Do they need to trade for Jonny Gomes, stat, so he can be the "identity" of this team? No, they're losing because they're underperforming.

And Wilbur positing that management seems "content" to do nothing and collect the ticket sale revenue: what the hell are they supposed to do? With the way they're playing, this isn't a team that's 1-2 moves away from being a legit contender. This is a team that has underperformed in EVERY facet of the game. Firing the manager or GM is a symbolic move at best.

There are preschoolers more decisive than the Red Sox are about what their general philosophy should be.
Their "general philosophy"? So if the Sox just had a clear philosophy, Sandoval would field his position like he has throughout his career, and Mookie Betts would start hitting like back in April, and Napoli's bat would speed up so he could make contact with fastballs he used to mash?

      Stupid.

They look completely lost. Some quotes by the Telegram-Gazette:

On Friday's debacle in the 7th inning: "Toronto played Dial-a-Hit."

On De Aza: "Alejandro De Aza plays outfield like he is in a hall of mirrors."

See the little punk Pedrioa blame the media for the way they are playing?

If anyone's still watching: anyone notice the NESN feed seems messed up on the TOR roadtrip? It's got this weird strobing effect like they're filming it at like 5 FPS or something. All other channels (including MLB Network) look fine.

I didn't notice anything for the time I was watching. Flipping between the game and women's World Cup. I am getting some pixilation on some channels due to the weak signal to the house. Comcast is coming out tomorrow.

Pitching seems to be settling in a bit, pitching coaches just need to keep working with Eduardo to get him to disguise his pitches better.
