I'm a little tired of him as well. Unfortunately, he will be back next year and I'm don't think I'll be able to stomach his demands for "respect" in 2017 and beyond.

Last place once again is going to slaughter NESN TV revenue. I'm baffled that they're still showing 35,865 average attendance.

Eckersley and Lyons were funny again last night. Things like, "Pedrioa's long foul ball down the left field line was the hitting highlight of last night's game?" Eckersley is very funny when he gets started.

I think those numbers are a bit "padded", but they're still selling pretty well despite a crappy product and (surprise, surprise) the most expensive beer (and other concession) prices in MLB.

      $8 for a 12-oz. beer?

That's why I started tailgating before games 30 years ago, drinking and eating outside Giants stadium. Might just buy a beer for the game.

And that's for your standard macro lager (Bud Light, etc.). If you want a "micro" brew (Sam), it's $9.

Knew the game was lost last night when they went from their double A starter to the single A bullpen. This is really getting ugly. Can't believe that just a week and a half ago I thought they could make a run.

I was going to rip Ortiz for trying to score on Cespedes' arm on a short single to left. Replay showed he was waved around by the third base coach. WTF? Could have had runners on first and third with no outs, but traded that for a runner on second with one out. No way Ortiz was going to get his fat butt home from second on that hit.

I buy one large Bass Ale at Revolution games at Gillette. $12.00. Soccer is only 2 hours so I can nurse a 20 oz beer for the game after a few pregame cocktails or beers in the parking lot. A 3 1/2 hour Clay Buchholz game at Fenway would be extremely expensive.

Used to be a lot of fun tailgating at Giants Stadium. That is, until my SIL went nutso. She was a practicing attorney and wound up really tight. She would pick fights with people tailgating near us over the slightest thing. Stopped going to games with her, and we would go with other people.

Ben Cherington out as Boston Red Sox general manager...

Red Sox hire Dave Dombrowski as president; Ben Cherington out as GM

I'd be stunned if they aren't negotiating Farrell's dismissal as well. His recent cancer diagnosis makes that a tricky move from the PR viewpoint but I think it has to happen.

Then again, maybe with a President/GM giving Farrell the right pieces, he could Manage a contender.

I suspect Cherington will take the rest of the year off, then rejoin Theo in Chicago in some capacity.

We were walking back from the game last night when we saw the Dombrowski announcement, and couldn't figure out where Cherington was supposed to fit in. Makes sense now. I agree he probably ends up working w/ Theo again.

Not that it matters now, but the offense has put up 62 runs over the last six games.

I'm not surprised that Cherington stepped down. There was no way he was going to take a demotion to assistant GM under Dombrowski who although is president of baseball ops will be the GM just like he was in Detroit.

Interesting that he said in his press conference today that the decision makers are the guys upstairs.

Get used to the Dumbrowski double speak. As a Tigers and Red Sox fan, I wish he'd landed somewhere else.
