That could work. I'm still trying to get the ole beast back on the road. since I've been back, it's been the fuel pump, then the ECU and now the Immobilizer. I need to find someone with a working VAG-Com quick, since Ross-Tech is dragging their feet on getting mine up and running again.

I tell you what, when you came back from a 6-month deployment, it's like you are walking back into your life, but it's totally changed. Everything is the same, but everything has changed. Or maybe it's just me. you know what they say...

I sorta know what you mean.

There's a guy back on the coast with a Vagcom. I know that doesn't help you much, though. Perhaps he'd be willing to help out a fellow VW owner that's in the service. He happens to be stationed at Keesler.

We ducked out of all of it again last night. Biloxi seems to sit in a pocket of good air that lets most of that stuff pass right by.

Now Greenwood is another story. That mess can get violent with almost no warning, so I know what you mean.

Glad someone found a reason to bump this thread.

Would any of you put up an extra $30 a year for a plate such as this one?

It'd be like any of the other specialty tags- ie. wildlife, choose life, colleges- in that at least part of the $30 would go to benefit anti-terrorism measures in the state.

I'm going to go to the tax collector's office tomorrow and get the necessary paperwork to start the proceedings. They require 200 plates to be reserved before they will approve the submission and make it available for purchase.

yeah we saw him. talked to him for just a sec. decent turnout for the area, i think. the heat was unreal, tho. even at 11am. stupid mississippi.

hmm...kinda like it, but i'll have to think about it. it would at least be nice that at least some of what i pay for my tag would go for a good cause. it's definitely not going to fix the roads around here

We went back today to get the Touareg, which is still a mess, and I saw him there. He barely remembered you (

) and said that he would be out of the area at that time.

I think he thought I was a bit crazed for coming up and striking up a conversation.

nah, i'm sure he didn't think you were crazed. if you'd known us in college...we were nuts and he thought we were quite the norm

he was probably thinking what a small world it was with you knowing him thru someone else like that! too bad he won't be able to make it, tho.

Eh, it can't be aligned. Yes, that's right. Can't. The dealership tried it and couldn't get it to track straight, so they sent it down the road to an alignment shop. They'd tried to do a Touareg in the past and couldn't get it right, so they refused to even attempt. I think they're going to contact VWoA about it as the dealership has even said they've done all they can. Perhaps VWoA has some special technique. If they don't, it's been in for the same problem the magical three times, so it's eligible for, eh... you know, that "thing."

the fruit thing, huh? that's too bad. they'll replace it with a new one if that happens, right? not familiar with the laws...

at one point i really wanted to get rid of the passat, but it was right after the accident and it was like, you know, you try to keep something nice and now it's messed up b/c of idiots and it won't ever be the same...but i got over it and decided to keep it forever!

Yeah, I've had the same thoughts a couple times. All it takes is a few hours detailing it and I put those thoughts to rest.

Yeah, they'd have to replace it with a new one. I'm thinking the first step will be for VW to send a master tech for the region to align it himself. I can't imagine that it truthfully cannot be aligned.
