Business trips FTW. I'm working right now in hopes of being able to pay myself back with some time off Friday.

Reno... I'm hoping to work only a half day at most. If the delivery is during the morning hours, I'm hoping to get on the road by 1:00 or so. Any idea where we'll be working on it yet? Interior, too, I assume? If so, I'm thinking I'll try to get that knocked out Friday evening and get the exterior on Saturday morning.

Looks like we'll be working on it outside. I'm going to pick up a tent that we can put up over the car to help keep it cool. I don't get off work until five so if you want to aim at arriving somewhere around then I am cool with that. Interior work will be nice and shouldn't take nearly as long as the exterior.

I don't think you saw my car running around up there, Ron. According to CarFax, Robert sold it around July of last year with 90,000 miles on it. It ended up at an auto auction and was picked up by North Shore Volkswagen in Mandeville, LA, and was left on the lot until May of this year, when it was again sent to auction, and was then titled in Louisiana on June 16. I bet it sat on the lot at Northshore and people thought it was "beat on" since it wasn't stock... LOL.

I'd be curious to see it now.

lol... Then we have at least 3 new dubs in town. I need to make up some fliers so I can put them on windshields.

Yeah. I browsed eclubvw last night after having not been on there in well over a year to see if the person who bought it happened to sign up there. I gave up when I remembered what a pain in the ass the navigation is there.

i quit using eclub because even though there were a good bit of friendly ppl on there, i still felt like an outsider

Ron sure I can help you out!

Jimmy, personally I have only used Photoshop so that is fairly easy for me but it is most definitely not the cheapest out there. GIMP is supposed to be really good but I have limited experience with it and that was 4-5 years ago now. If you have a specific photoshop question I am sure that I could answer it for you without any problems.

****in' over-engineered cars... I think I may have finally traced down my tail light issue (which is now so bad that I can't even fool the car into keeping them on... like I used to be able to do). I think the culprit is the empty sockets for the side marker lights. What a damn stupid way to link the lights.

I know why they're done that way. The schatty side marker lights that the US gets dicked with were an afterthought, so they just piggy-backed them onto an existing circuit rather than creating a stand-alone for those two lights.

      It's still some bull****...

Think I will have a problem with my lights?

Reno, I'm gonna need a copy of photoshop and the usual suspects. I am really gonna need an editor for my fortran files. Do you recommend anything that will recognize the f77 syntax and highlight functions and stuff like that? Something similar to Crimson Editor for the PC. I"m also going to need some sort of FTP software.

      Ron --

I still have my copy of the Microsoft Office package for the Mac. Reno doesn't particularly care for the e-mail in it, but I like it because it looks just like Outlook. It also has Word, PowerPoint and Excel in it. If you want it let me know.

And don't buy Quickens for it because it SUCKS!

I'm not sure. I need to try something with mine, and if it doesn't fix the issue, I'd say yes, it's possible. I had one of the first sets out there, so if they're just poorly built, it shouldn't be long before other complains start surfacing. I'm really hoping the missing sidemarker bulbs are the issue.

Well if you are baller enough you can use the command line (Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Terminal) or you can use Transmit or cyberduck.

I see with your post edit you found the ssh client on your machine. Good deal! I bet we can install a fortran engine on your machine as well (you know for testing locally and all that jazz).

      Awesome.

When the new comp gets here I will get download Textmate.

If we can find a FREE compiler or engine to run my files, that would be awesome. I have found compilers for the Mac and PC, but they are not cheap, but finding a way to run my programs locally would be the ****.

I can use the terminal. I don't use SSH on vista, I've been using Putty. Is the terminal appearance customizable?

Terminal is highly customizable. BTW, you can use it for ssh, telnet, ftp, etc.

Here is everything for fink relating to fortran:

      Awesome on the Terminal asspect.

I wasn't able to find a direct compiler for f77. G77 might work, but I am not sure. We have both running on the servers here. When I got this debugging finished I will have to run my code through the g77 compiler and see how it does. If we can find away to make this work, it would be a HUGE benefit to the Comets Research team. I am the only PC user in the group... go figure. None of them know of a way to run these f77 programs on their own machines. We run them all on the schools unix machines, Texas A&M Sun machines, and a few linux machines. Our biggest problem with our code is that it only runs on older servers. Now that I think about it... I think our programs only work on sun machines. Maybe its time to go to a new language like f95 or g95 or something like that. Idunno...

If you've been using PuTTy you'll be good to go w/the terminal.

Sorry I can't help w/the Fortran stuff. But I work on a unix system; so if you need terminal/cmd line help; I have a bright light for shining on stuff.

Not sure if that will work or not. The only thing on that site that even mentions f77 is a link to Absoft... that is the compiler I was mentioning earlier. It's $300 for a single user license.

Lights are fixed. Damn VW for putting the side markers on the same circuit as the rear parking lights.
