Yep, just like it says. Went to put a CD in the single dash Monsoon and it began accepting it as normal but it is stuck in there and the player won't spit it out. Just displays 'no disc'. I didn't jam it in crooked or anything, but it is stuck. Cannot remove with ultra thin needle nose pliars. Anybody know a trick to get it out ? I was thinking about rebooting the car (popping battery) to see if that would wake the thing up. TIA before i start tearing things apart...

Well ya know, if I were you, I'd stop shoving those Rush CD's in there. There's only so much a Monsoon system can take...

Try the reboot, if that doesn't work, I'd say DEALERSHIP time. You're stocker than stock, right?

Nope. My mods are way too extensive to list.

Hopefully that CD you have stuck in there is a standard music CD. If you got a CD/R in there, VW does have a warning out that they will not be removing those under warranty.

Bump for a fellow Rush fan, I have their whole catalog on my phatbox.(twice- don't get me started on the problems I've had getting older versions off my phatbox)

I am a huge fan, good luck with this.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was not aware of that. This is just a standard CD.

This happened with my Alpine. I turned the car off for a few minutes & the headunit reset, I hit eject & CD slid out. Hopefully stock Monsoon will do same. Good luck.

you my friend are going to need to get a saw and a dremmel out....thats too bad

    15. 05-17-2005 06:16 PM #15
I had the same thing happen to me when I first got the R. They had to remove the head unit and push some misterious button on the back to get it out. Luckily it wasn't a burned CD - otherwise they said it wouldn't have been covered. (If they couldn't get it out they would've replaced the head unit - sent the original to VW and then returned my disc to me later - if it was a burned CD they would have "charged me $800!") I didn't see anything in the owners manual that said we are not allowed to play burned CDs in the monsoon system so if it happens again I'd call BS. Anyway, ever since the original problem I haven't had another incident. Good luck.

The problem with burned CD's are the labels that some people put on them. They always come off eventually & get stuck in the cd player. Ill pull mine out tomorrow & see if I can find a manual eject button. (never had to get one out yet...) I would just take it to the dealer & tell them sometimes it wont spit your cd back out. They will just replace your radio.

maybe try disconnecting the batt and discharging the system?

CDs usually like dog biscuits. Have you tried luring it out with one?

      ok, back to work...

You're in bad company to make Rush jokes here!

Rush rules! I've seen them numerous times, have every one of their CDs, etc.

(Speaking of Rush, I have a Rush Vapor Trails Wallet & Keychain for sale, both in perfect condition. If anyone is interested, drop me an IM! )

Damn - Here is what I've noticed about R32 owners, there are a lot of Kevin's, and a lot of Rush fans.

I am fortunate that what had me quite worried was easy to resolve. I didn't even have to disconnect the battery. Just by chance when i got home from work yesterday I had the Monsoon radio on when i pulled in my driveway. Without turning the radio off I turned off the car and removed the key. I then put the key back in the ingnition and restarted the car and bingo ! The Monsoon rattled around a bit and recognized the CD. I pressed eject and after some (nervous) cranking around the disc popped out. Completed further testing and all is well. Thanks for all the advice and good to see those Rush fans out there.

I'm too young, unfortunately, I didn't get to see them until much later. The Vapor Trails tour was incredible.

I have a Signals tour t-shirt, and while wearing it one day, a guy came up to me and went "Man, that was a GREAT tour!"

I went "I...um...wouldn't know...I was 1 year old when it happened!"

By the way, Neil didn't hit his prime until the Test for Echo tour, after studying with Freddie Gruber, and completely changing his style.

(producing the Buddy Rich tribute albums helped as well, he worked with all of the greatest drummers alive)
