well, my stock coolant hose leaked at the same spot so i bought the samco's....after awhile they began to leak in the same spot so i had a friend make me a fitting out of some SS he had lying around. turned out pretty good (although i could have trimmed the hose alittle nicer but i can always do that later)i have seen at least 4 other OBD2 VR6's leak in the same spot so im sure someone out there has run into this problem. im sure my friend (username: gbalias) could fab a few more.

Seriously, I had the same leak. Except mine was this plastic thing that VW started using. I got a new hose but surely would have bought that piece you made. You should market that.

OMG!!!! You guys remember A2T!!!! I was asked him to fab these up when he was on his coolant plastic fixing kick because it's something easy to make and all. I would take one if you have them because the stock one sucks balls. What's it made out of?? This would be awesome. Is there any chance the you could make a slight indention where the circle clamps clamp down on the hose for better leak protection???

my stock hoses leaked at that plastic fitting too....that was the cause of all this.this piece is made from stainless steel. the ends have a bead welded around them for a snug fit. another friend here is using the piece with his factory hoses, this piece was designed from the original plastic fitting with the same exact diminsions.
gbalias made them. i can get with him to see if he made anymore of them

Any news on those fittings?

Damn that's nice! With some sort of solid SS pinch clamps instead of hose clamps it would be downright sexy!

Hey post me up a pic of the oem part. Or just tell me the part number and ill go to the dealer and buy a plastic one to reverse engineer.Someone one here mentioned it a while back and I was going to make the part, but never got a pic.
Hit me up, it will be as good as the pipe in my sig!

My dads 98 VR6 is leaking in the same place mine has yet to leak but I will end up buying one though.

a2T2 makes quality stuff. I just installed the metal "not-likely-to-ever" crack pipe and it's an absolutely beautifully made piece.I just installed all new OEM hoses, but will likely get this piece very shortly.

Awesome. Thanks for words, and next time im in Maui Im looking you up!

Although my '95 doesn't have this plastic piece, it's a solid 1-pc unit, how difficult would it be to get replacement hoses that allow me to use this fitting?I ask because I'd like to use this part, along with the metal crack pipe, as a form of preventatice maintenance. No coolant leaks as of yet at 113k, but I don't want to press my luck.
