Thread: jetta 1.8t engine cuts out. suggestions?

    1. 07-02-2005 03:05 PM #1
Hi all. I have a 2001 Jetta 1.8T. I have upgraded the exhaust, chipped the ECU thru APR, added a blowoff valve, and cold air intake. My MAF sensor was going out so I had the dealership replace it. (defective part) Problem is, my engine is cutting out. It cuts out when I'm out of gear and coming to a stop. The idle will go down slowly then completely cut out. The ONLY LIGHT that is on after the engine dies is the battery light. No Check Engine light comes on so I can't pull any codes. I just replaced the MAF sensor. Seems it has something to do with the idle. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what it could be. Has anyone had any problems like this? ANY help/tips/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Your problem is your blow-off valve most likely. put a DV in and it should fix it..... Or it could be the plug you have in place of the DV in your TIH, if its letting in air, it has a tendance to stall.

I heard it could be the blowoff. I'm gonna try the DV. Thanks for the tip!
